So many of the threads are aimed at the DDP, not many on the DxDP. Is no one using the deluxe in 2008 because of the changes? We are planning on the DxDP for our October WDW trip. Would love to hear from all that have used it in 2008. Was it worth the price? How to use it to get the best value? What was your favorite meal, etc?

We usually do the DDP but with recent changes have decided to try the DDDP
for our April trip. We are doing a split stay and are using the deluxe plan for our last 4 nights. We are doing a TS for lunch and signature dining each night.
For DH and it seems a better fit and value rather than the standard plan. Only time will tell!

We used it on our February trip. Planning on October also will use it again. Next time I plan on yachtsman steakhouse, and doing either breakfast or lunch at castle for my daughter's birthday. its alot of food we found ourselves making reservations for breakfast at like 9am and them making dinner like around 6pm. We did Teppan Edo what a great experience. The mugs are great to just go to your resort counter service place and refill them.

We did the DxDDP and didn't care for it. To simplify: it was just too much scheduling, running around and sitting in restaurants for us. It was also too much food. We found that paying OPP we'd have more freedom to change plans at a moments notice. For instance skipping our second TS meal because we were too full from the first and not feeling like we were losing money! We also found that we would save money because we wouldn't order as much food as was on the dining plans.

I think it all boils down to preference for your day plans and dining plans. While we enjoy the food, we personally don't want to be saddled to it! Too many other activities to enjoy at Disney!

We LOVED the DxDP!!!!

First, we usually made reservations for TS breakfast and TS dinner. This is how we normally eat, so it worked for us to sit down during the day. Our TS breakfasts were normally before rope drops which put us in the parks before opening.

We used all but one of our credits, we started with 63 for all three of us for our 7 night stay. We used them:
3 signature dinners x 3 people x 2TS= 18 credits used
8 regular TS meals x 3 people x 1TS= 24 credits used
20 CS meals, these were mainly split between us using 1 or 2 credits at a time
1 left over

We used all of our snack credits, both in the parks and getting them before leaving at the Goofy Candy company.

We received $330+ in value over what we paid for the plan.

You don't have to schedule your trip around your food even with the deluxe plan. We loved the freedom of the deluxe plan. We could eat where we wanted. My husband ate every morning at the quick service place at the Polynesian.

We have decided on the DXDDP for our trip in Nov. Never used it before. We really want to try a lot of the signature restaurants, Hoop De Doo Revue and some more of the character meals that we couldn't try on the regular dining plan last time. We are going to schedule our meals around our park schedule, not the other way around. I'm waiting for the November hours so I can plan stuff around the parks we are going to be in. I'm hoping they have the EMH hours posted by May when I can make my ADRs. I do not intend to have three TS meals per day - that would be too much time sitting down. But, I am looking forward to having a more relaxed time, with some sit down meals to force us to not be going commando the whole time. I can't wait!

we loved it but we did have a few TS left over. I bought treats with the left over snack credits.

We started a few mornigs with character breakfasts...that way we got a good start on the day and got in the parks early. Cindys' breakfast was 2 TS....etc....we also booked a few eveing meals....but left lunch open to whatever...whereever....

We haven't done the DxDP yet, but we are for our October trip. Having priced it out, it looks like we're saving about $140 over all quick service meals (and this is with CRT and Luau), or about $330 over the sit-down places we've chosen.

It helps that our 2 yo DS isn't on the plan, so the three of us who are ticketed can share with him, thereby eliminating the need to buy him anything other than a drink.

We used the DxDP for our January trip and LOVED it! It was nice being able to only do TS! Since we've been to WDW a few times, we weren't in a rush. And the relaxed pace of meals was great for my 4 year old nephew. He LOVED all of the character meals.

We did skip a TS lunch and opted for a CS (Cosmic Ray's at the MK) the last day. We will NEVER do that again! The burgers were awful and I waited in line for an hour! I thought the CS meal would be a faster alternative to TS, but it turned out to be MUCH slower.

We're doing DxDP again in August and can't wait. While we may do a few CS meals (just not at the MK), we have TS reservations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. This way, if we don't feel like waiting on line we have an option!

And yes, it is a lot of food. But you don't have to finish it. :)

I was just going to post a question but I read the above post. I didnt know if the credits were for TS or CS or both. So if we want to use all our credits for TS we can do that?

Yes, you can use any combination of CS or TS that you want! We are doing the Deluxe Plan in December.

The best thing about the deluxe DP is that you can do all TS!

I agree about Cosmic Ray's. We avoid that place like the plague! We have had too many issues there and it's not a very "magical" experience! :headache:

Can someone tell me what the price difference is??

Our family enjoys TS meals during our stay. It is soo nice to see the characters in a restaurant. Otherwise my daughters would make us stand countless hours in line to see them. I have been to WDW several times and knew nothing about this deluxe plan!

The DDP is $37.99/night for Adults and $9.99/night for Children

The DxDDP is $69.99/night for Adults and $19.99/night for children.

$32.00 more per night for adults and $10.00 more per night for children.

We are doing the DDDP in May when we go. We are going from May 7-18th. Because of our airline times we won't use any meals on the 7th or 18th so we are going to enjoy two signiture experiences. We have planned some TS breakfasts and mostly TS Dinner. We plan to do QS lunch most of the time. We originally had the 10 day Magic My Way park hopper & water park & Pleasure Island tickets with the Dining Plan package with a preferred room at POP, it was going to cost us $3355.92. However we got in on the free ticket upgrades and had to down grade to a standard room. We upped the dining plan to deluxe and took out the fridge. Our new cost is $4169.92, but by the time you account for the refillable mugs $45.00, the fridge $110.00 and breakfast each morning apx. $330.00 for breakfast (11 days x 3 people) we would have paid $485.00 when we arrived. So my new plan is actually only $329.00 more and we get appitizers and as many TS as we want. It was well worth it to us when we stopped and figured it out. There are three of us. We are going for 11 nights, with hotel, food, and tickets it is only $112.00 per day per person. Not bad, all we need to buy is suveniors and mouse ears! Sorry this post was so long. :flower3:
