DxDP: Saving one Credit (aka worried my son will starve)

Re: RFC ... we ordered 6 adult meals (with apps & desserts) + 1 kids meal for 3A/2J/6C and they were fine with it. Very accommodating.

Add us to the list of kids being able to order off the adult menu on DxDP. We've done this at Sci-Fi (twice), Yachtsman's, the Wave, BoG dinner, RFC, WCC and San Angel. We usually have the kids split adult meals at non-buffet/family style restaurants to make our credits go farther. However, we always go in prepared to pay OOP for the kid's meals if we are told no.

I stand corrected and apologize.

Now I'm ticked of about all the times I was told no!!!

Stacy

But what does this mean: " if your Child wants to order from Adult meal selections on the menu then they are more than welcome to but, you will be charged for an Adult meal entitlement. "?

I have to tell you, the Mom's panel is wrong as much as they are right. That sentence there says to me that they will be using an adult credit for that meal, so they should have child credits left over, right?

And even if Mom's panel is trying to say what most people here are saying in that kids on the DxDDP CAN order from the adult menu, then why has Disney left the stupid line on their brochure that says KIDS MUST ORDER FROM THE KIDS MENU??

Deluxe Disney Dining Plan

Excepting the Premium Package or Platinum Dining (both over $200/night per person!) that are not recommended for anyone, this is the upper echelon of Disney Dining Plans. By default, no resort tier receives this package for Free Dining, but you can pay the difference to upgrade to it.

For each person on the room reservation, the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan includes:

  • three meals at your choice of counter service restaurants or table service restaurants (per night)
  • two snacks (per night)
  • one refillable drink mug (per stay)
The per-night price of the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan is $103.57 per adult and $37.62 per child during regular season, and more during peak season. This plan has had the most significant increases each of the last two years.

Those on the Deluxe Plan may officially mix their adult and child credits, meaning that child credits may be used for adult entrees. This has long been an unofficial loophole (and remains one for the lower tiers of the plans), but it’s now officially allowed on the Deluxe Plan.

If you have further questions that aren’t answered by these pages, check out Disney’s Dining Plan website. There are comprehensive and unnecessarily complicated PDF documents describing the various plans and their rules. Most importantly, the site has a list of participating restaurants (nearly every restaurant participates).

Because they can and will enforce that when they choose to. The Mom's Panel is NOT the mouthpiece for official Disney policy. You are correct that they are often incorrect.

.
What official Disney publication does this verbiage come from?

Just the fact that the prices are on this "official" quote tells me it is not DISNEY. Nowhere on any official Disney literature or online will you find the pricing for the dining plans. They don't publish them. The only way we have pricing is from people doing the math.

The OFFICIAL Disney pdf still states "GUESTS 3-9 MUST ORDER OFF A CHILD'S MENU WHERE AVAILABLE." It is still an unofficial loophole.

All this to say OP that yes, it is likely your child can order from the adult menu but be prepared (like you are) to be told no. Like you said, if you are told no, all you have to do is give your child your entree and you eat his kids meal (or share with your DH saving that credit for another meal). All in all, I am sure Disney will do their absolute best to be accommodating and make sure your child has a magical experience :)
