Please help me decide if I should get the dxddp! It will be me, my mom, my 6 yr old and 2 yr old. My husband will join us 3 days into the vacation and stay for 3 days with us.

We have 2 rooms. My mom will be in her own room, connecting (hopefully).

Here is the problem: I don't want to get dxddp for my husband for all 6 days since he will only be there three. So, if we get the plan for just our room and not my mom's room, can she eat his credits for the 3 days he is not there? Do they ask for everyone's room key before they let you order, or do they just see that there are 2 adults on the plan and see there are 2 adults at the table?

There are a lot of signature restaurants I want to eat at, and we will be sharing with our 2 yr old. I added it up and we will come out ahead if we use the plan. We would NOT come out ahead if we got he dxddp for all of us with my husband not being there for 3 nights.

Sorry, this is complicated I know! I hope I explained it well.

I am pretty sure you would be able to do this. I don't know if it is against the rules or not I just know they wouldn't check.

The question is will you have enough credits for all of you when your husband is there since then your mom won't have any?

Good question. I am planning on cutting back on the eating at that point so mom can have my credit. They don't let you share meals I am guessing, so I'd order just an appetizer or something.

When you give them the KTTWC it has how many credits you have left on the card. My Mom had a room seperate from us and did not present her card and they just took it off our card. The credits usually expire with the room. So you may be able to still use them once your DH has left.

Thanks! He will be joining us after 3 days and they said he has to get the plan for all 6 days if I get the plan. So, I was hoping my mom could use his credits until he arrives.

Theoretically, it sounds ok, but you'd still be falling under the "no sharing with those not on the DDP" rule with your mother for the first 3 days. Would they check? Not likely, but it's still under that umbrella.

Add to this, when your hubby does show up, you can still only use 2A and 1C credit per meal, and sharing with mom still falls under that same umbrella.

Now, depending on your dining plans, have you thought about adding the standard DDP to your mom's room? It would be a bit more costly of course, but not nearly as costly as getting DxDDP for her. Since you'd all be on the plan, sharing would have a bit more leeway (they don't mind sharing when paying OOP and they don't mind sharing when both are on plans, it's sharing between plan and no plan that is a no-no). It would also solve the issue for once the mister shows up as she will be able to use her own credits then.

Just as another presentation of this...
First 3 days: Hubby's 9 meal credits go to Mom. Mom doesn't use any of her credits (although, if doing QS, it would make sense for her to use her own credits there)
Second 3 days: Hubby has 9 meal credits of his own. Mom now has 6TS and 6QS credits left over.

Even if using 3 credits for QS (and Mom using her own for that), Hubby would have 12 credits and Mom would be at 6 and 3. If planning to spend 6 credits in 3 days, she'll be covered and you'll only have 3 DxDDP credits left over, which should still be above the break-even mark (I know I have 20 out of 24 credits planned for my trip, and I'm saving 180$ apples to apples over OOP).

ETA:
Of course, she wouldn't get apps covered with her meals, but who's going to stop her from taking a few bits of yours and hubby's? (Well, other than you and hubby :p)

This is sooo helpful!!! Thank you! I think we'll do this! :)

plus, if you're doing signature meals they're 2 credits each which will eat them up fast!
