1. They child will have recollection of the visit, which may be a good thing
2. They will be overwhelmed by the sounds, sights, etc at a very young age
3. They are most susuptable to diseases and infections. Look at the measles outbreak in California at Disneyworld
4. Going to fireworks? I'm sure that won't scare her
5. Giant costumed characters posing close. To a child that can be terrifying
6. I'm sure it will be cute, you might have a few great pictures, and maybe it's the perfect thing for you. I have three princesses, we didn't take any of them until they were 5. They knew what it meant, who the characters were, and was very magical. A trip with a one yr old is all about you, not the child. if it makes you happy to have an infant there, fine, but don't for a minute think its about the child. They can't comprehend it

Took my baby girl to Disney for her first birthday, and we had a blast! She is now 25 and loves it just as much as we do. We stayed in the cabins in fort wilderness so i could cook, way before DVC. We spent her first birthday at king stefans banquet hall in the castle (really dating myself!) my son was 4 and we all had such a wonderful time.

Lots of difference between 3 yr old and 1 yr old. Also your study points at high stimulation SEEKERS. This would be thrust upon them

Next time you are in the park look at that couple or mothers with babies. A majority of the time they look miserable. Yes there are "moments" that are great, but with the time, expense, and trouble taking an infant into the park just seems wrong. But to each their own.

You're catching a lot of flack here, but I tend to agree with this. Of course, there will now be 100 mothers posting that they took their babies and had a wonderful time. You're right- to each their own. If I am being 100% honest, the thought of taking a one year old or an infant to WDW is not my cup of tea. We tend to stay deluxe and spend thousands of dollars. It's just a really expensive trip for an infant or one year old. In fact, the husband and I left our 1 year old with my parents and went to WDW just the two of us. As I previously posted, we took our daughter at 2, 2.5, and 3.5. We really could have done without the trips at 2 and 2.5. They were great and we have happy memories, but the trip at 3.5 was the magical trip I have been waiting for with my girl. It was just perfect. So, I don't think you need to wait until age 5. Is one the absolute best age for WDW, probably not. But hey, if OP loves WDW and wants to go- I hope you guys have a magical trip!

we took our baby to disney for his first birthday last february and had the BEST time. it was such a great experience. he was an early-ish walker by 10 months, so he was able to toddle over to characters and do some exploring. speaking of characters, he LOVED them. favorite rides were small world, winnie the pooh, dumbo and the people mover. just follow your kiddo's lead.

baby carriers are ideal for ride lines and bus trips.

we took the boba air because it is extremely light weight and folds down into itself to the size of a large wallet. here i am wearing our baby in it, it's hard to see because it's white:

we're taking him in a couple of weeks for his second birthday too....and will still be using the carrier...except now he rides on our back.

AWWWwww.... these are cute! I like what someone else said, even if he doesn't have these memories, you always will. Live in the moment.

We are doing a once-in-a-lifetime (or once in a long time) trip to WDW this year and waited until our kids are older since we won't get to go very often.. but we go to Disneyland frequently (family in California). We took my older son at 15 months and he LOVED it.

Of course he doesn't remember it, but we do. And he had fun at the time. Sometimes things aren't about how well you'll remember something, but the fun you have at the moment. I found 1 to be an easier age to take him than age 2, as he was happy to ride in his stroller and just LOVED everything. We didn't really do characters, but he loved every ride we took him on.

Peter Pan, the Tiki Room, carousel, monorail, train, Jungle Cruise, Dumbo... I can't remember everything we did, but he just had the best time. He loved the fireworks. We bought him a light-up necklace and he was squealing and laughing the entire time.

A band came out in New Orleans Square and played, and Matt toddled over and danced and it was wonderful. They gathered around him and played as he danced.. it was something that will stick in my memory forever.

If you get to go on a fairly frequent basis, I'd go ahead and take a 1 year old. It is definitely a different style of trip, but it is also a lot of fun. Follow the child's lead and watch things through their eyes, and you can have a magical time.
