DW took me to Jiko for my BD

Went last night 6/30 food was awesome,service impeccable and atmosphere very nice.

We normally don't get to hit the more exotic of eateries as some of our typical party are somewhat conservative in food.This just being the 2 of us and having wanted to try it for a while as I had been to Africa and the Middle East as a child and in the military and was jonesing for some memorable food.


Our server was Stephanie and she is the bomb,knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful.Got everything right and on time even though she had an 18top birthday to serve as well.

Started with the Taste of Africa which is 3 dips served with a variety of breads/pita/chips.There was a hot green sauce similar to chimmichurri,a type of hummus and a red curry like one with fruity overtones.

Got the cheese board,done very very well but the cheeses were Domestic or European.I'd like to have tried African or Asian cheeses.They were a brie,goat,manchego,gouda and blue and good examples of each.

We both had the ostrich entre served rare,it had been an appetizer but they decided to make it entre sized.It had a sauce similar to the red sauce in the App and was finished with potoes,spinach and a couple of figs.

Desserts were the apple tart and the trio of chocolate flourless cake,caramel ice cream and a mouse like confection over caramel.And a special smaller sized pistacio creme brulle for my BD.

This place rocks.Barbara the floor manager and Stephanie repeatetly checked on us and we talked surprise..food.We will definitely return,already looking at the menu for new things to try.
