Has anyone every been to DW while this UCA (cheerleading) competition is going on?? My dd will be competing in this in March of '06. Just wanted to know what to except.

Thanks!!!

Hope

We were at the All Star Movies from 3/5-3/12 of this year. Towards the end of the week the cheerleading competition arrived. We were only in the parks one day with them there, and that was the one day we had to use Fast Pass. But it wasn't unbearable. At least the weather is nice, not too hot!

Good question, I was wondering the same thing as my dd will be also be competing. I have never been to DW in March

This will be our first year going to the UCA Championships. I have two dd's in all star cheer. I made our reservations this week. We will be going down for the whole week before the competition for a family vacation. This past Feb we were there during the high school championships (we weren't competing, we were there during our Mardi Gras holiday) and we hardly noticed them. The weather should be great, but it is the south and you just never know. Here in Louisiana, you can be freezing in the morning and hot by the afternoon! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am in Wisconsin so I know it will be better there than here in March! I also have 2 dds in all star cheer. Only the older daughter's team is going to the competition. I was waiting to see if I got more information from the coach before I made a reservation bu thinking I should just go ahead and make one. We were going to make it a family vacation too but unfortunately younger daughter is in a different competition the week before so she needs to be home to practice.

Varsity hasn't released any travel pkg info yet. We won't be staying with the rest of our squad since we will already be at WDW. We are splitting our stay between the Poly GVC and Renting pts for a 1br at BWV. I am so excited! This is both of my dd's first year of all stars. We don't know if youngest dd will be competing at the UCA Champinship (we will know the first part of Dec). I am kind of stressed out. I am still trying to plan our Dec trip to WDW and now I am trying to think ahead to March. :cheer2: :cheer2:

One of my friends had been talking about some of the costs (I forgot she was looking at last years information for reference) so I was thinking the information was already out. I haven't decided if I am going to stay with the squad or not.

We're so jealous. The closest we get this season is Clash of the Titans in Jacksonville. Hoping we get to do UCA next year. DD7 is an all star cheerleader and all she talks about is wanting to compete at Disney World. But guess going for 9 days Sept. 30 will hold us over, we won't have to wait as long to see the mouse.

Good luck to all the squads competing.

:cheer2: 35 days and counting

Thank you, and don't be too jealous, my daughter is finally getting to compete for the first time in Disney World at age 16

Our coach gave us a price for our dd $465 per child for Mar 15 - 20. I wanted to go down the week before but out coach won't let us. My dd will be practicing right up until we leave. This will be our first experience with it.
This is my first experience with cheerleading all together!!! I really don't know what to expect. I would rather stay somewhere else!!

Disers take over the cheer competition!!!!! :cheer2:

Our competition dates are March 10 -13. Are ya'll competing in another competiton other than UCA?

Hey, anything is possible!! :rotfl:

Since this is our first year with the All star team, I don't have a clue as to what is going on! :rotfl2: I just go where I am told :cheer2:

But, I do know that our coach told us we would be at DW March 15 - 20. I guess I will ask her tomorrow before my dd's practice.

I wonder if its a different competition, since the one we are going to is March 10th-13th.

We are really excited to be going, too! It is my 2 dd's first year of all stars and the first time our squad has gone in over 5 years. So this is all new to everyone in our squad. I wonder when Varsity will release all the new travel info and schedules? :cheer2: :cheer2:

First time for us too! If I hear anything or get any information about the competition please post it and I will do the same

Okay, my dd's information sheet says, AMERICHEER INTERNATIONAL, ORLANDO FLORIDA, MARCH 15 - 20. So apparently, I don't have a clue what I am talking about! :cool1: :cheer2:

Man, I know all the Disers who can't stand the "cheerleaders" must be sweating now! It looks like WDW has non-stop cheer competions from Dec thru the end of March. Well I can't wait! I'll post anything I find out. Good luck to everyone! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I bet they are too. I haven't heard anything yet but. I know there are a lot more important things to be worried about or dealing with.
And yes good luck to everyone.

A lot depends on exactly where you are competing--I've been to both MGM and WWoS. MGM will be packed around the Indy show area--food lines will be loooooooooonnnnnnnggggg and ADR's do not necessarily work. One year we tried to make SciFi PS so we wouldn't have to wade through the sea of humanity at CS places, had a time, conflicted with competition time, made a new time, conflicted with award time--for our age group--we were able to hand off our PS to another family in our gym who could use them. However the attratcions were usually short--as anyone who knows "we" are there avoids it! :) Also--our girls are required to bunk with the team--even if family goes down. This assures the coaches that the team is on time and where they need to be. I would suggest getting a room in either the same hotel as the team or as close as possible. Our teams always stay offsite---not sure if it's a cost thing or if the WDW budget hotels are fillled.

Our coaches are only going down for 2 or 3 nights. They haven't done Disney in several years. We are not a large squad, so they are a little more relaxed in their planning. We (My dd's and I) are staying at the Boardwalk Villas so we will close to the the MGM venue. My only problem will be if both my dd's are competing at the same time at different venues. There are also a few other families that are planning on staying in the Epcot/MGM resorts. I wish Varsity would release their package info, so we could plan better. :cheer2: :cheer2:
