DW/IOA-USF Split?

we are getting in this Friday at 8pm...and right now going right to WDW staying at POR for 5 nights on a AP rate.

thinking about staying at RPH for the first night...
can we still use the hotel key card for the Express access after we check out??? I was planning on going to Universal the next morning after checking out at 11...but we wanted to stay there all day and then go check in POR later in the day (it would be 4 days instead).

or should I just forget about the 1 night and stay at POR the whole time and drive to IOA-USF for the day?

You get the express access starting the day you check in throught the day you check out. One night stay will get you two days express access with your room keys.
