Is it possible to put movies from the DVDs you already own onto your iPod?? I would love to be able to put several of our DVDs onto my kids iPods for our trip, but I believe they are all protected and that it is not possible. I really do not want to repurchase all of them a second time through iTunes. Just wondered if transferring DVDs you already own is possible?:confused3 If not, I will probably just allow my kids to purchase one new movie each from iTunes before we go.

I own all our DVD's, but never knew how to add them to our video iPod. I ended up finding the movies on Lime Wire and downloaded them all as they were already in the iPod format. You may want to check that out.

It's possible, and I have done it. Just go to youtube and look up "how to use handbrake", or "dvd to ipod". There are a few other programs you will probably need, or at least I did. It is time consuming, and I had a bit of trouble at first, but once you figure it out, it's worth it. :) There are some videos on youtube that "talk" you through it.

Good luck!

If can the video into Itunes library and plug your ipod in. Once it starts to sync go to movies/video in iTunes for you Ipod look up all the movies or shows you downloaded. They may not be highlighted. Check them off. If the checks in the boxes stay grey them you need to go to "Advanced" in the top left of iTunes and convert the file. It takes about five minutes for a half hour sitcom to convert. Once its converted that grey checked box will turn to a black checked box..:surfweb:

you need to de-encrypt them first, and then put them into ipod movie format. you can get a free trial of these programs, and i use them on a regular basis. very easy to use, and you can look up step by step directions on the internet as well. I put lots of movies on my ipod this way and they look great. Use AnyDVD to take out the encrytption code, and then clonedvd mobile to convert the file.

Thanks, everyone! It sounds like it is going to take me a while to figure out how to do this. I am a tad bit technologically challenged. :rolleyes1 But at least I know it is possible! :thumbsup2

Sure, it's not only possible but quite easy. I had the hang of it in about 10 minutes. First you need a program to decrypt your DVD and a program to convert it to iPod format. I use DVD Decrypter and Videora iPod converter. Both are free programs. Not trials, but full programs.

If you download Videora first it will walk you through the steps to convert your DVD including the link to download DVD Decrypter. Two words of advise. First to decrypt your DVD into a raw file takes up A LOT of hard drive space. I delete the raw file after I converted it. Second, in the walk through directions it will tell you to select "only" the first box in the streaming tab. The first box is the video. The subsequent boxes are for audio and subtitles. Make sure you also check the first audio box as well or you'll have no sound. The conversion process takes a couple hours (at least on my computer) so I let it run when I'm done for the night on the computer. The program has a box you can check and it will shut down your computer when the coversion is complete.

Then you take your converted movie to iTunes and drag and drop it on you iPod.

There are other programs and I will admit I haven't tried any others as these 2 are simple, free and have worked just fine for me.

We are using a program called Cucusoft. We tried a couple of the free programs and none really worked well for us. I think that it has to do with our operating system. It is a beta version or something. I don't know what the problem was, but the free stuff didn't work. Can you tell I am not the techie in our family?

We bought the Cucusoft program with a coupon online. I think that we ended up spending $30. It is very easy to use, even for the technically challenged!;)

Many of the new Disney movies are sold with "Digital Downloads" it is a separate disk that installs directly to itunes. I have used it to download HSM3, Bolt, and Wall-E. Super easy to do.

THANK YOU.. ive been wondering also. perfect now to look into the converting process LOL

hehe the Google Ad Machine picked up on this and the lower banner is for a copy program :lmao:
