DVD Rentals

We have reservations for AKL-Jambo House in January and are hosting our freinds. Since they are from South America, I'm not sure how familiar their daughter is with the Disney movies that a lot of WDW attractions are based on. This will be their first time to WDW. Does anyone know how extensive the complimentary DVD rentals are, do they have a wide variety of movies, especially Disney movies? It would be nice to have some for her to watch at night before we go to the parks. TIA

They DO have a nice variety of movies. Some for adults and a lot for kids (not that I don't watch the "kids" movies too.)

There is a decent selection, but you will not find the "vaulted" movies like The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, etc. We rented 101 Dalmations (the live-action one) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame while we were at AKV.

Be advised, they require that you return the movies by 10AM the next day. If you "rent" them at night, they will remind you that they are due back the next morning. They will also leave a message on your phone in the morning to remind you.

We rented Mary Poppins, Wall-E and Bolt on our trip in June at AKV-Jambo. It was pretty neat because none of us had seen Bolt yet and it was on sale in the market for $30 and we were able to rent it for free with our DVC membership!

We will soon be making our first visit as members. Regarding renting DVDs, is there a charge or is it like the library where if you are a member you "check-out" DVDs? I do not mean to hijack this thread, but since my question is on the same topic it makes sense (at least to me) to put it here.

You check-out DVDs like at the library using your room key.
Where you go depends on what resort you are staying in.

AKV-Jambo movies are checked out at ZAWADI. If you are at Kidani, then Community Hall.

SSR is at CH. BCV is at the Marketplace. BWV is CH. VWL is their gift shop.

Im not sure but BLT has a CH also so most likely movies will be there.

And one anomoly the cms told me about -- no "Lion King" at Jambo!
