dvd player in room

Sigh. This is not the answer I was hoping to hear. So no DVD players, no WiFi, and far too few ports of call (Aug Repo).

How about books? Is there at least a reasonable library?

We took a portable DVD player and couldn't connect it to 13" TV (I know we were bummed to) BUT WiFi will probably be up and running by the repo cruise. At least that it what CM Danielle (in charge of internet) told me kast week. :cool1:

I am not trying to flame anyone but why would you spend all this money on a cruise and sit in your room watching dvd's or sitting in front of your laptop?
I spend all day and night on the computer at home and will be glad not to be tied to this infernal, yet beloved, little machine for a week!

People take cruises for different reasons. Not everyone enjoys participating in the on-board activities or spending days in ports of call. You can enjoy a cruise stricktly for the purpose of "getting away from it all" while being pampered by the services offered on board. I have sailed on DCL at times where the single activity I participated in the most (excluding eating) was veg'n in front of the TV in the cabin.

For those who wish to bring a portable DVD player (or any other device with video RCA output video/audio jacks) you can get a device for under $20 that will let you plug video devices into a TV with cable-only inputs. You unplug the cable from the TV and plug it into this device. The device comes with a cable that you plug back into the TV. The device as one set of input video/stereo RCA jacks. When the device detects a signal on the RCA jacks, that signal is transmitted to the TV cable on something like channel 3. When no signal is going to the RCA jacks, the cable signal feeds on through as though the device wasn't there.

As I stated I was not trying to flame anyone. I humbly apologize for any comments that may have been short sighted on my part. Geez!

we bought a portable dvd player at walmart for a very low price-it has hookups that you can also attach a playstation to. you do best to also buy an inexpensive set of headphones. i hit the dollar bin a wallmart and buy old movies and cartoons to take along with the ps games in a cd carrier. if nothing else this provides my son with something to do when we are in our down time between visits to to the parks at wdw, and also prevents some bickering between the 2 kids over the one tv in the stateroom.
