We will be bringing a portable DVD player for the first time. Can I put it in my carry-on or will it have to be screened seperately?
TIA

They may see it when they screen your bags and may take it out and look at it but no problems with having it.

We bring ours all the time with absolutely no problems. And of course on the plane you can only use it during the time when electronic devices are allowed. We use the heck out of ours...it really helps the trip go faster.

Barb, do you bring movies or tv series? I packed a couple of movies but was thinking that maybe one of the tv series (Friends, Seinfeld, Monk) that are out on DVD would be better.

We actually do both. :D
We typically bring a couple of movies and a set of series like Green Acres, the Sopranos, Reno 911, Strangers with Candy, etc. Once you learn how long your battery typically lasts, you'll know whether it's better to do movies or half-hour episodes. Our DVD player is a Wal-Mart cheapie, but it generally lasts the entire hour and a half that electronic devices are typically allowed between Chicago and MCO.
