Below is a table that shows the number of contracts bought and sold by DVD Inc, by month. The data is current through the end of July 2003. The "Sell" column indicates the number of new contracts sold by DVD Inc. to individuals. The "ROFR" column indicates the number of contracts that DVD Inc. purchased using the "Right of First Refusal".

DVD Inc. continues to be active in the resale market and they had a big June selling DVC.

Thanks for the info. The number of contracts they buy back is smaller than I had thought. No wonder it's hard to get add-ons of the older DVC's.

If you look at what they sold last June, BCV really did just about sell itself! :earseek: :earseek:

The large number of contracts "sold" in June 2002 is a recording anomaly. DVD Inc. pre-sold thousands of contracts but could not execute them until June. Hence, the number is very large for that month.

I expect we will see something similar next year for SSR.

This is very interesting info. Where did you get it?
There was definitely alot of ROFR activity this year, compared to previous activity. Only a little over halfway thru 2003 and already this years ROFR has eclipsed 01 and 02 combined.

Probably done to keep the resale market high enough so that SSR did not look too out of line pricewise compared to resales.

Gonna research previous posts about point rates and see on average how much revenue this is. Pretty good size from first glance.

Peace

Hence, the number is very large for that month.

Yes, but overall they still sold 3,000 more contracts in 2002 vs. 2001 (although it was down 1,000 from 2000).

Wow! These numbers are really high. I'm surprised there is even any room left at WDW to squeeze everyone in. It really explains the need to book early. If they continue at this rate, they will have to build a new resort every year. Oh, right, I guess they have been doing that.

DVC could be exercising their ROFR more frequently in order to "frustrate" more buyers into an easy Disney purchase. I remember reading a post about someone who cancelled a purchase through Disney to buy a resale. Guess what...Disney exercised their ROFR and bought the resale out from underneath them (Hmmm...qwinky dink!!). You can't tell me that person's name wasn't all over in the Disney computer system. Susequently, they made a 2nd offer at about the same circumstances, and Disney waived their ROFR!

It is likely a vast Mousewing consipracy!!!

That was us! We were the ones who cancelled our contract to purchase resale.

Although I was resassured that Disney would not purchase it if they saw our name in the system I wondered about the buy back, also. There were other contracts out there with the same #'s that were not purchased back. It also took a very long time for both contracts to make it through Disney (the full 30 days each time)! We did think about buying through Disney during that long wait, especially the first time when the exercised their ROFR.

We paid more per point for the second contract and it has less banked points but actually it will work out better since it is two separate ones for a total of 270 points. We can sell one if we need to. :D

Great! Just great! not only are the scooping up everything in sight this year, thanks to my big mouth friend the Disney rep knows were waiting on ROFR. They're going to take it I know they are.

Please please, oh great and wonderful most generious mouse, allow us this package. please please pleaseeeeee

It would be interesting to see how many transfers there were as well. That would tell us the number of contracts being sold on the resale market and give us a bit better picture of how aggressive the ROFR activity is.
