DVD Camcorder?

What kind do you own or recommend. DH is wanting to buy one. Thanks

We own a Canon Elura 90. It is compact and fits the hand nicely. I shot 7.5 hours of video on our last visit and feel I made a good choice in cameras. The low-light quality is not as good as I would like, but overall we enjoy the videos we took. It also has the capability to take digital still images. The sound quality is also quite good.

I am very interested in this as well. I have looked at the Sony DCR DVD-92 and the Panasonic VDR M53. I am not opposed to spending more on a better camcorder. So far the only down side to most of these DVD cameras is the short battery life (most being 1.5 hrs.) & record time (most being 30 min.) per mini dvd. I have found a mini dvd-r 5 pack for $12 at Best Buy.

You are so right about the poor battery performance. The Canon battery that came with the camera would last about 27 minutes. Luckily I had bought another battery from Sterling Tech that lasted well over an hour (Which was great for a 60 minute tape) The nice thing was that it cost $29.95 and came with a charger. My Canon Powershot S70 digital camera also used the same battery is the camcorder, so I charged two batteries every night and still had spare batteries. I use Sony Premium 60 minute tapes and have had no problem with them.

I have yet to see a DVD camcorder that uses a tape. Am I confused?
Every DVD camcorder I have seen uses a mini dvd disc.
