DVC'srs....D23?

I bit. I bought the t-shirt that will have "launch day" printed on it. I figure if I have buyer's remorse later, I can always e-bay the t to recoup some of the costs.

They can have freaking D23 apparel on the website, yet we can't get freaking DVC apparel on a website? So freaking annoying!

I went to sign up and I want to put it mine and my husband's name. The website said: D23 Membership Name is non-transferable and should correspond to a valid photo ID.

Does that mean that I cannot put Jack & Jill Smith (assuming that were our real names)? I think that would suck having to pick only one of our names.

I tried that!!! I put my wife and I on it. I got a call from Disney in the afternoon saying they couldnt do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha, it was a nice try.

We bought it, I am working on buying at least one pin to commemorate.

I also like what I was able to add to my signature!

Jessica and Michael and it did not give me a problem?

And, DOH, my bad, I meant UP not Witch Mountain!!

Hey...its Disney, its new, and my name is Mike, and I AM a Disneyholic :rotfl2:

Nope...Not joining....Money is tighter nowadays, and it's not worth it for $75 a year IMHO...If it was $75 for life, that would be another story.

Got the email just now about using just my name...SO, the sucker in me just got Jess her own membership :cool1:

Well, there is exclusive merchandise, first access and discounts on the expo, and likely various other benefits coming down the road. I expect D23 members will get the same early previews for things like new/rehabbed attractions, etc. as do AP and DVC members now.

So if you are already an AP and DVC member this doesn't make a whole lot of sense?? Or are there more compelling reasons to join. I agree in this uncertain economy I'll wait. Its a little steep for an uncertain return.

It is uncertain. I am just guessing at one of the things they might offer - they certainly haven't said anything in that regard yet - but they HAVE said that they haven't said everything yet. If you are an AP or DVC member already, certainly getting access to stuff you already have access to doesn't help...but if there are preview dates, and those preview dates happen to coincide with a trip you have planned where the AP or DVC dates don't (they don't have them on the same days often) then there is an added incentive.

I would like to join but this month is tight so it will have to wait!! I live in the UK so joining costs are almost double due to mailing costs for the magazine!!!
I would have liked to have the t-shirt with the date on it which was only available yesterday but..... oh well!!! I guess that joining is going to be the only way to get the mag as I am pretty sure that it won't be available off the shelf here. It will be impossible to get to special events/screenings as they will all be in the USA. I hope that one day I would be able to get to an Expo though. I can still see me joining by the end of the year though, if only to add more letters after my name. You know, Joanne Pridmore DVC, AP, D23 (charter). :lmao: :lmao:

I have a stupid questions. I'm trying to join online. What do I enter for the Membership Number? How would I have a membership number if I'm not a member yet?

You don't enter a membership number. You get that after you've "ordered" your membership. It should be in the confirmation email.

No, I can't see that Disney needs this money from me LOL!

Thanks, I'm all set!

I was looking at all the D23 merchandise and apparel that is available for purchase and can't help but wondering....why doesn't DVC offer this to us members. It's crazy that the member site does not have a merchandise and apparel section for DVC.

My guess, since DVC was set up as a sort-of separate entity (I was told that Eisner was not supportive of it at all - until it made money), the DVC systems are minimally integrated into the Disney systems. It was never set up so that DVC member information could be used by DisneyShopping.com, etc.

D23 is a new initiative so from the ground-up they were able to set all of that up.

It would probably take a fair amount of effort to get it set up. And besides, you are a DVC member - aren't you at WDW often enough to pick up things while you are there? :)

They do sell some DVC merchandise at the DVC resorts, but the choices are minimal. Nothing compared to the amount of D23 merchandise.
