DVC's Solution to Inventory-Adding Inventory to SSR? (Updated to include OKW)

Looks like every date from June 1 through March 2 (with the exception of November 6) can now be booked at SSR in a 1 bedroom even NYE. That was not the case early this morning. My guess is they dumped a bunch of SSR 1 BR inventory into the DVC system. I hope they didn't halt the refurbishment to accomplish this.

im not sure I understand this completly-- the booking system shows an abundance of 1 BR at saratoga for the next 11 months? How would that be possible?

I would guess they are drawing out the refurb there, and delaying BRV to get more inventory.
Also, not closing down buildings completely at SSR. Meaning you can get a room... but it will be in a construction zone.

It looks like it also includes 2 bedrooms and studios (but they didn’t add in studios until november’s 7 month mark.)

As to the refurb, a question I have is whether it is happening at all right now. A few weeks ago, Disney announced it was halting all construction projects at WDW effective March 17 as a result of the coronavirus problem. What I do not know is whether that generalized announcement actually includes DVC refurbs.

As to SSR 1BRs and 2BRs being available from June to March, it is unclear whether that is the result of any DVC made change. The 1BRs and 2BRs at SSR are very often open even three to four months out during much of the summer and Feb and March five to seven months months out during much of the the fall. What may be going on is simply that many who already have reservations for 1BRs or 2BRs in summer are cancelling or changing reservations and thus opening any of the stray days that might otherwise have been filled. Moreover, SSR studios are often open even at 7 months out during the fall, and the fact that openings are now shown at 7 months out would not be unusual.

I'm pretty sure it was more than people just making changes. There were plenty of holes in the 1 bedrooms during the summer and fall and major holidays like NYE at 6am this morning. Now, it's every single day from June 1 to November 6 and then from November 7 to the end is available. Just seems strange for inventory to suddenly crop up unless its a new build and they are releasing rooms as declared.

I have been stalking all resorts and SSR had gaps and dates not available in many months now through 11 months. That’s pretty strange bc SSR is almost always a good back-up plan for us. Now I’m seeing much fewer gaps and dates that were not available this Fall suddenly open. I think it is likely more than cancellations. I wouldn’t read a lot into it though.

I bet renovations were put on hold. Because DVC books up so far in advance, I am going to venture to guess they took SSR rooms out of inventory based on a long range construction schedule, so they didn’t have to move people.

Now, all those rooms that may have been pulled from inventory 6 months or so ago that they figured would be unavailable due to renovations, are back

So this has the potential to be a solution for 1000s if owners losing points due to this but you’re worried about the refurb being halted?

It might simply be a couple of rooms that were put back into inventory too.

Maybe but if it’s even a possibility they are starting to solve the problem, why would anyone be mad they postponed the renovation. It actually sounds like a potentially fantastic solution with minimal impact.

I can envision some desk tantrums when someone gets assigned one of the more beat up rooms in Paddock when they requested refurbished but booked Standard. Never underestimate someone's power to find fault.

They canceled the Star wars weekend which was this month. The next race weekend isn't till November for Wine and Dine,

We had canceled our summer trip and were lucky to reschedule to December, so some of it could be people shifting. It's probably a combination of factors.

If it's only 1BR appearing, then cannot be the refurb, studios and 2BR would appear as well.
Since DVC deposits almost only SSR 1BR into RCI, could it be related to that?

As another option, could they declare more Riviera than they need for sales to make those rooms available?

Looks like they've done it again. Suddenly, every single night in studios is available during June, July and August for both OKW and SSR when that was not the case yesterday. There are scattered nights for September, October and November then every single night, including NYE, available again, through March. Both times it has occurred on the first Sunday of the month.
