DVC'rs that drive..NYC & DC Traffic? Suggestions.

If you hit DC between 10 and 3, you should be fine. If not, I would consider taking U.S. 13 south down the DELMARVA (Eastern Shore). You'd have to pay the $12 toll on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel, but you'd miss traffic and it is a beautiful ride. Basically, after you get across the bay, you'd take I-64 West to Richmond and back to I-95. U.S. 13 is a divided highway down the DELMARVA, but watch your speed as it is usually crawling with police.

YES!! Sorry for being excited, I just checked the map, and this is what I want to do for sure!! Do you have exit information? Details possibly? We will be coming down 91 South in Mass, into CT, and picking up 95....I notice around Wilmington, south of Trenton, there is 13 South. I am not good with maps....If you can PM me with details if you have it?? Thanks SO MUCH TO EVERYONE`

I just wanted to add. We lived between Baltimore and DC until a few months ago and still travel it for work every day. Baltimores 695/95, then 95 between Baltimore and DC, and then 495/95 around DC are awful almost any time of the day. There is no good direction to be going in this area as both directions are usually bumper to bumper crawling along. If I could give any advice I would say try to hit the Baltimore area around 10-11am. This will be reduced traffic and then you hit DC and are done with the capital beltway by 12-1pm. And are toward Richmond by the beginning of rush hour. I will say our family always leaves home about 9-10pm the night before so we can miss the crazy drivers and roll with the truckers who know what they are doing. Because one of the first things you learn about Maryland drivers is only about half of us use turn signals. Especially on the interstate.

I just made the drive to WDW... I-77/I-26/I-95/I-4 down, then back along

I-4/I-95/I-496 from Philadelphia.

Heavy construction on the western beltway around DC I-495... be sure to follow I-95 around the eastern side.

We always take the bypass around Richmond.

And there is construction in Georgia for about 10 miles north of Brunswick.

Otherwise it was clear sailing.

I'm not exactly sure of the exit, but I think your best bet is to take 295 through Jersey and catch 95 in DE. From 95 take DE SR-1 South (the Christiana exit). SR 1 will become 13. You can take 13 all the way, but that will go through the towns (i.e. traffic lights).

Oh yes, in DC you are much better off staying on I-95. I-495 is ripped apart right now.
