DVCMember.com - No More Message Board?

It looks like they've updated the Member News Section slightly, but all references to the Message Board have been taken out. I wonder if they've given up on it?

I know someone that worked for a company that supplied content for Disney.com. SHe told me that they were scared to death of any sort of message board at all. They realize that a good way to generate repeat traffic is with a message board, but they could never get off the starting line without some bogwig and the law department nixing the idea because ot would lead to possible exposure.

I am not sure if the DVC board was ever a focus of theirs, but they did propose several message board content platforms. Each one shot down for being to risky.

Haven't been there in awhile. It sounded to me like the board was not going to be anything like this one. Sounded as if it would be responding to a topic posted by DVC. It would have been interesting to have but I'm not devastated if it doesn't take off. Just kind of odd that they advertised it for so long.

I was at a members meeting at the OKW the week before Easter and this question was brought up then. The official answer was: "They are way behind schedule and do not think it will be ready till late 2001 or more realistically early 1st quarter 2002. The said and I quote, "The Y2K issues put us very far behind."


I think the fact that they let go almost all of their internet group is also a factor.

I've heard the same thing Rich is mentioning. They have some real decision-making problems. Disney doesn't move at the speed of the net. There are still a good number of web developer types at Disney. It was primarily the folks supporting GO that were let go.
