For those of you who set up wifi in your room, which wireless router do you use? I'm looking for some suggestions for our upcoming trip.

I use the Apple Airport Express. Easy to set up, small, works great.

When I'm at home, I use it to extend my WiFi network, and also to play iTunes throughout my house. Cool little product!

I just bought an inexpensive ($30)Belkin G router for our upcoming trip to OKW. It's relatively small and lightweight. No software installation required...just plugged it in and my netbook found it with no problems. Hopefully it will work at OKW.

So let me ask you all this - do you have to have a laptop directly connected to the router to initially set it up when you get to your resort? We have iPhones we want to connect via WiFi but don't have a laptop.

My AirPort Extreme is set up at home. I just have 2 Iphones that I use at WDW. All you have to do is make your connections and you're good to go.

Hey Dan - my favorite is just a basic Netgear router. Set it up at home and make sure the computer(s) are working with it, and then you should be good to go once you get to WDW.

I have a two-generation-old netgear pocket router. I've had it for years and years--love it.

I set up my security settings at home via wifi from my netbook. I'm assuming once I get to OKW, all I'll need to do is connect the ethernet cord to the router. LOL, I should know better than to assume anything computer related will work without a hitch. I hadn't thought about using my iphone via wifi... I figured I'd be using that on the cell network.

I have a linksys router and it is the same model I use at home. I also leave it in my owners locker so it is there. DH and I both like to bring our laptops.

Since we became DVC members we like to relax in the resort a bit more and I generally use mine on the balcony before anyone gets up

I like the WRT54GL because I can run anything from DD-WRT, OpenWRT, Cisco or Tomato (my favorite) and customize all the settings including how much power you can push out through the wireless radio's.

I have a D-Link DWL-G730AP Wireless Pocket Router/AP w/ Client Mode, 802.11g, 54Mbps and really like it. It was cheaper than the apple and lighter overall. While I am an apple man, I travel with a work computer I cannot add content to and to modify the apple AE, I am told you must add a program to do so. While it may take no modifications and I'd be fine, i wasn't willing to take the chance.

ETA. Still waiting on my dinner for 2 As noted in this thread

LOL Dean! Great memory (and appetite)

Me, too. Worked very well at SSR, we had three laptops working at the THV.

LOL! Well considering the bet was 8 years ago, I'd say you won. :D

I'll be down early December, will you?

Thanks to everyone for sharing what they use, Ill either go with the apple airport express or the D-Link DWL-G730AP Wireless Pocket Router.

The problem with that is I've found in some of the resorts you really don't get very good 3G coverage in the rooms.

+1 I've been disappointed with the 3G coverage in the room.
Plus wifi is faster and much better for uploading pictures :)
