Just returrned from a HOT week on the west coast. (Flew NWA from DTW - LAS) We started out staying 3 nights in Vegas at the Stratosphere. The broke an all time heat record while we were there. We ventured out to Hoover Dam where the car thermometer registered 127 degrees. Didn't win any money to buy more DVC points.

On Tuesday we flew SWA from LAS to SNA. Very nice, small airport. We decided NOT to use our points to stay at DL instead opting to stay across the street at Best Western Park Place Inn. Talk about convenient. It was $79 a night for a studio that was bigger than the one at the BCVs. It included a continental breakfast or a pancake breakfast at the restaurant next door.

I did hook up with a DVC CM that came from FL and the "scripted" answer was there were NO immediate plans for any DVCs in CA at this time. They are showing a scale model of SSR. The DVC offices are behind the DLH.

Parks were CROWDED and HOT (Again anonther heat record was broken while I was there). Fireworks were cancelled on Saturday night due to wind. This was the second time I have been to DL and DCA and I doubt we will ever buy DVC in CA if offered.

All in all a good trip, but I will be happy to go "home" to SSR this time in August!

Did the CM do the "nudge nudge wink wink" thing when you talked to them? ;) I think they are testing the waters, recording how many people are interested, seeing if they can sell SSR faster (because I bet they have several things on the back burners), etc. Don't think we would buy there, but would love to have another resort to use our points at without trading (which is how I would HOPE they would handle it!)!!!!

Glad you didn't melt!!!

I'm glad you had a good trip. Those temperatures are more than I've ever been in!

Thanks for the report! We're going to DL next week for a couple of days before heading to San Diego. I think it's going to be a bit cooler by then according to the forecast. Were the crowds managable? I've been to WDW when it was crowded and we still managed to get a lot in and have fun.

Toon, its not a pretty image...but somehow DIP from Roger Rabbit comes to mind when I think of you in those high temps! Better wear your rubber boots! :p

I am still trying to cool down. The temps here in Michigan are in the 90s! The CM did give me the standard, "I think you know what I mean...spiel" ;)

I would hope that IF they opened something in CA we could trade in. Right now I would bet it would cost quite a few points, though!!!

I HOPE it is cooler for you! We happened to be there right around the 50th and the crowds were BIG. Soarin at DCA had a 2 hour wait by 11:00 am and all fast passes gone by noon. We managed to do a lot using early entry and getting fast passes. We made priority seating a day in advance for Blue Bayou, so we really lucked out!

Have fun!

Sounds like the heat didn't stop you from having a good time and what a great deal on the hotel. August temps in Florida will feel chilly after 127.

Read an article about the 50's Anniversary date. Article predicted that the parks would be fill to capacity and that the :firefight firemarshall would be closing the gates pretty early in the day due to all the interest from people wanting to experience the anniversary at the park.

19 more days to our August trip home
