We have never stayed AKL before. We realize it is further away for the parks and are going to do a laid back vacation. DH, Me, DD 11, DS 9 Nov 3 thru Nov 10. We are hoping for 7 month window AKL one bedroom. DH thinks he wants more days at disney he would like Nov 4 thru 14.

So choices could be AKL with split stay at Beach club so we can be lazy by their pool too. We don't have enough points for one bedroom the whole time. So we can either do a studio the whole time. Or half one bedroom half studio.

I always pick longer if I can so I would go for trip two. We have never stayed at either spot but are going to be at AKV for three nights in March. We have a friend who is a disney guru and he loves AKV but hates how far it is from anything. That works great for us this trip because we don't even know if are going to a park we want to enjoy the resort. That is a first for us.

I did notice that you want to golf and do dtd we stayed at SSR resort last year that if a great fit for that. We got up in the morning and wander over to the pro shop we played the fastest game of golf for us ever it was great. We are not great golfers, the course was not busy and it felt like we owned it. We also walked to dtd on more that one occasion or caught the boat over. We ate at RFC there instead on at AK.

I hope I have helped at little.

:) After staying at ASMo for years. AKV is not that far away. I look at it as getting the best of both worlds. You are on Disney property but feel like you are in Africa....:cloud9:

Last trip that we did - we did split stay at AKV and BC - it was great - BC close to Epcot and HS; AKV close to AK - we did not find AKV far from anything regardless.

The only thing that I might add - if you don't mind moving one more time is that if you are arriving quite late - why not stay in a Value Resort - don't even unpack and just pay OOP for one night so you don't waste points. Just a thought.

Have a great trip!!

We just got back fro Kidani - 2 bedroom savannah view and LOVED it...I had read alot of complaints about the bus..but for us it was perfect. The ride is still only a matter of minutes, Kidani and Jambo are the only stops and I don't think we ever waited more than 5 minutes for the bus to arrive....

I like your 2nd option better, provided your kiddos can miss that much school...? However, maybe something to keep in mind would be to do the MK/CRT thing while you are staying at AK (on Tuesday, maybe?) and then go to Epcot or DHS during your BCV stay so you can walk to those parks instead of using the bus. It sounds like you are going to have a great time either way. :goodvibes

I'd go with option 2 because it gives you more time but would move to BCV a day earlier. I agree with what poster JW2 said about not using points for day of arrival if you're getting in late; I just hate using points not feeling I'm getting a whole day out of them. And I agree with Crystal about making your Epcot/DHS visits while you're staying at BCV, although if you want to see Fanstasmic you may have to alter your schedule because depending upon time of year it may not take place every night. jmho I'd skip Blizzard Beach if you do book BCV and just stick with Stormalong Bay and you can also easily pool hop over to BWV too.

Best wishes planning, sounds like a fun trip :goodvibes

i agree with 5fordiz. I'd do the first night in one of the "pop" resorts and then switch to your DVC. The luggage folks will take care of moving your stuff and you can head to the park and then to your new resort later. It also saves you some points so you can keep that 1BR a little longer.

Both hotels (BC and AKV) are a good 15-20 minute bus ride to the MK. It looks like you are wanting to do most of your activities around the MK or MK resorts. Have you thought about staying closer??? Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorites and it is a quick boat ride to the MK and Grand Floridian.

Between Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Villas, I prefer Beach Club. The pool is amazing and is off limits to pool hopping. The kids will love the slide. It also has a nice assortment of amentities including restaurants, Beachs & Cream, a nice wine bar, and a great character breakfast. The white sand beaches are beautiful and make for a wonderful stroll in the morning or evening.

Hey if the kiddos can handle missing that much school, then go for it. Just make sure to check out your attendance laws in your state. Some are a lot more strict than others. Have a blast!
