DVC website -- crazy inventory swing overnight and now unplanned maintenance

Scary stuff! Hope everyone comes out of this with their reservations.

They can if they have a good IT infrastructure that includes continual snapshots of their database (so-called "continuous data protection"). But then again, we are talking Disney IT, so...

:rotfl: So true....

Happened again this morning! They had BWV and AKL studios available for NYE.....

I am seeing a lot open for my dates as well. BWV (standard and pool view), BCV, AKL Value, BLT Lake View for starters.

Yeah, I'm seeing availability too. But the weird thing is I have open waitlists for the same days and same hotels that have rooms available but my waitlists are still there.

Same here! I have Jambo value waitlisted. It is now available. I would just switch it myself, but I already did from Kidani Std--> Jambo Std view yesterday. I am happy with that, but what is the harm in saving a few more points? I just don't want to switch myself and the room isn't really there.

However...is IS tempting to go for BCV or for BWV (Std view) since this will be an Epcot only trip. However, it is our first DVC trip and we really love our home resort of AKV. It's only a 2 night trip.

I just booked a day in January that I have wait listed for. I will see if the reservation holds true. If not I will go with plan B.

Unlike yesterday, I still see nothing for Oct 20, but that is understandable with it being just a week away. Yesterday there were many options in the morning however.

so tempting! i have 5 nights in a bwv pool/garden studio, but i see that my first 3 nights are available at beach club studio. i was thinking about calling MS and changing my first 2 or 3 nights to beach club (same points, which is good since i'm well within 31 days), and adding the deluxe dining plan. probably best to just do 2 nights...but do i want to move (split 2/3) when i worked hard to get all 5 nights together? solo trip...ugh i don't know what to do! i need help convincing myself to stay put! already have an april trip booked for beach club with my boyfriend. but the idea of adding deluxe dining for 2 nights is sooo tempting, especially with $7 snacks at food and wine...

Well my Value Studio is gone, and I didn't get it on waitlist. Hope someone else is happy! I can't say I am too upset; I really only wanted Jambo, and now that I am confirmed in a standard/pool view it isn't a big deal. I think for 3 points I'd rather have the extra space and a guaranteed pool view versus possible parking lot.

However, BCV and BWV are still open and that is nagging at me.

I like how this is turning into a daily support group. Someone out there also happily snatched up a treehouse I wanted. But I'm happy too with what I have. So pixiedust: that this works out in everyone's favor. It's nice to have a little magic like this. :tink:

Disney's cash reservation system also appears to be currently having problems.

This has been going on for days. Somebody is getting yelled at.

I used to love standard view at AKV - Jambo House because you were guaranteed a pool view, BUT a few years ago they restructured the standard views to include undesirable savannah views. And while that may not sound bad, in many situations a pool view would be much better. Twice I have been placed in the absolute last room to the north which abuts an exterior stairwell that juts out significantly to the right of the balcony. To your left is a decent view of the end of the savannah, but in your sightline [in your face] to the right is the protruding stairwell that has hydrants, commercial waterlines and necessary fire equipment for safety. It truly is an eyesore . . . and makes your feet sore to walk there. :p

All this talk of extra rooms and I decided to go check if my waitlist had come through for March, which it hadn't, but checking online the room was available. So I quickly called up Disney and had them book that room for me. They were actually surprised that the waitlist didn't grab it. So no having to switch rooms for one night :cool1:

Me too!
I just called and got the BCV room that I had waitlisted over MLK weekend.(Had to cancel 2 nights at BWV and was afraid to do it myself :scared1:)

Yes...I had an open waitlist that did not pull. No worries though, I am just glad I don't have to deal with a split stay!

Same thing here. I called and had Disney book the room for me, which they did and then have my waitlist cancelled. They were surprised that the waitlist didn't get filled and were going to pass this on to the IT department.

I had them do the same. I asked her specifically if this could be an inventory issue and she said no. Great for us!

There must still be a glitch somewhere. I called at 10 eastern this morning to switch to a 2 bdrm for 1 night. MS dropped my 1 bdrm, went to book the 2bdrm but it was already gone. Then he went back to the 1bdrm and it was gone too! :furious: He said it was picked up by a waitlist! All of this took maybe 1min. I couldn't believe it .... :(
