hello out there...

we want to buy into SSR and are looking at getting a resale (at this point). but at this time, it will be in the 130-150 point category (as we will only be able to go every other year for starters). my question is... when we decide to start going every year... will we be able to purchase 40-50 or more points? i'm assuming as long as someone wants to sell there will be that chance... but wouldn't we want it in the same use year (i.e. would it easier to go through disney to achieve this)?

hopefully this makes sense. :confused3

anywho... without confusing myself more... i'll hang up and listen.

thanks in advance.

Yes, fairly easily but you may want to re-think having multiple use years. Remember that use years have nothing to do with when you can travel or book reservations.

Often on these boards people will talk about use year when they really mean use year month.

Be sure you're meaning the correct thing. Use Year, or Use Year Month.

Someone with a June UY month and someone with an August UY month are both currently in their 2006 use year.

Use year changes every year, such as 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and so on.

Use year month never changes. Example: June

If you purchase an add on from Disney, it will be the same use year month. It won't necessarily be the same use year.

Suppose you buy today and get a June use year month, and get 2006 use year points. You could purchase an add-on in 2008 in which case you would still have a June use year month (since it's an add-on purchase), but start that add on with use year 2008 points.

If you go resale and purchase a contract with a different use year month, it is a totally separate contract under a totally different membership number.

Interesting - if you purchase an add-on from Disney later, this add-on can still be separately sold or transferred to someone else (thinking kids) from the original contract right? Or does the add-on become part of the original contract never to be separated again?

Thanks-
Chris

An Add-on can be sold off later, by itself. Or you can sell your original contract and keep your add-on.

If you buy an add-on from DVC it will be the same use year. I would recommend that if you buy resale, get the same use year and have the contracts "linked" together. It will make it easier if you want to combine the points when making reservations.
