I am trying to book a last-minute trip to Disney at the end of March. All of the resorts for deluxe studio are on a waitlist. This is the first time using Dvc Points, how does the wait list work? Can I put my name on the waitlist for different resorts? Has anybody had a good luck on the waitlist getting the rooms that they are looking for?

You can have 2 waitlists total. It depends how many days you're trying to book, but traditionally you'll have an easier time getting smaller numbers of days. Also, if you need 2 days and 1 comes available your waitlist would need to match for just that 1 day, they won't book just 1 of the 2.

I’ve been fairly lucky with my waitlists coming through, especially for trips 3 nights and less. Chances are much better at resorts like Saratoga Springs, Old Key West and Kidani.

I actually just did my first waitlist(s) - 2 separate days at BCV - and got both for the last week of March. Generally, I believe that it is most likely to get them when you set them up more than 30 days in advance, as most cancellations occur before the 30 day mark.

Just remember that once you get to less than 31 days, any reservation canceled would result in holding points.

So, I would only waitlist all your days to avoid that.

This is a numbers thing. Between all the configurations and room categories, like GF has five different kinds of studios, there might not be very many of a particular room.

Waitlist SSR and OKW standard. (maybe AKL Kidani savanna). When other people's waitlists fill, this will be what they cancel. Then I'd switch to Poly standard and one that has less, whatever your dream is.

Obviously, shorter waitlists are more likely to fill. If you're more than a couple nights, I do this in two waitlists.

I have an alert on my phone to make a special noise when I get a DVC email so I know when a waitlist filled.

Stalk, stalk, stalk at 31-ish days out. Like every hour. This is when cool stuff is going to open up.

If is this your first time using your points you can also try and call member services for a welcome home trip. They may be able to help you out if there is inventory on the cash side (that is of course if they haven’t already helped you book a welcome home stay). Maybe worth a shot.

My first waitlist is out there too. Looking for a couple days at the Poly in June. I hope they come through sooner than later since I'd like to take care of the flights. Fingers crossed!

Just an FYI the welcome home trip only applies if you're a direct member who just bought DVC for the first time. Otherwise like RoseGold said your best chances of a waitlist coming through are through either SSR or OKW because of how many rooms are at each of those resorts. The shorter amount of days your trip, the more likely the waitlist is to come through.

I had only one night on the waitlist. Going for the first time on a Disney cruise. I wanted to try a different resort for the night and was looking forward to taste the famous bison burger . So got a studio at Boulder Ridge. Really excited.
