I currently have AKL - Kidani village booked for a studio room in August. I have wait listed Bay Lake Tower. If I stalk the website and book the nights that come available can I cancel my existing reservation and get all my points back?

My understanding from dvc-mike. Things may have changed since his post

If you cancel a reservation for a DVC resort 31 or more days prior to check-in, all of the points used to make the reservation will be restored to your account.

If you cancel a reservation for a DVC resort between 30 and 1 days prior to check-in, all of the points used to make the reservation will be placed in the Holding Account. Holding account points may not be banked or borrowed, and will expire at the end of your current Use Year if they aren’t used, and the new reservation must be booked within 60 days of your new check-in date.

If you cancel a reservation for a DVC resort on the check-in date, all of the points used to make the reservation will be forfeited.

Yes, the points will be returned to your account in the same status as they currently are in the reservation, providing that you cancel those nights at least 31 days in advance. You will not be able to modify the reservation online, only a CM at MS can do that so once you find the nights, you will have to call.

If you had to borrow points to book AKV, those points will be returned as borrowed points and expire at the end of the UY your August vacation falls.

So, if you have to borrow more points to do what you want to do, then just be sure you don't borrow more points total, between both reservations, that you can use this UY.

Any current UY points from the cancelled nights, if you are still in your banking window, will then be bankable.
