I have owned DVC since 2001 and love it.

I have also stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Orlando and it was very nice (large clean rooms) and Marriott Grand Vista in Orlando and also large and nice.

I am sure Hilton and Marriott have loyal owners, but they do not offer the on-site DVC magic 24/7 like you get staying on-site.

I was thinking about buying Marriott or Hilton to use a s a ski week in Utah/Colorado.

Are there any other DVC owners that alos own another timeshare that they would reccomend?

We own both DVC and Marriott. Our DVC home resort is Vero Beach and our Marriott home resort is Ocean Pointe at Palm Beach Shores, FL. We live in Michigan and once we retire we will use both home resort locations to put together yearly trips of approximately 2 months in February and March. Let me know if you have any questions regarding Marriott ownership. We are very pleased with our ownership in both DVC and Marriott.

We also own DVC, Marriott and Westin (Starwood). Our Marriott is Newport Coast which we bought resale, at about 65% the cost of buying directly from Marriott. The only difference with buying resale is that you can't exchange for Marriott hotel points, which I don't think is a good exchange anyway. Marriott has a lot of good locations to exchange to through Interval International. You get a priority to exchange to other Marriotts.

If you want to learn more about timeshares check out the Timeshare Users Group: tug2.net. They have bulletin boards where a lot of knowlegable people share their insight. They also have a classifieds section for resales and rentals. Other sources: redweek.com, myresortnetwork.com

I agree about the Disney magic when staying on-property. We stayed at the Marriott Grand Vista last year. It was nice enough, but in Orlando, DVC is the place to stay.

We own both dvc and marriott. We have owned dvc for about 6 years. We just purchased at marriotts Ocean Watch villas in Myrtle Beach. We love going to hilton head and decided to buy a week on the ocean. We have points at both the bwv and the bcv. Someday we will probably sell the points at the bcv. We love disney, but driving to the beach for a relaxing week is great and much cheaper than flying to disney and buying the park tickets.

We also just bought at marriott's ocean watch. We are selling our DVC. My husband also feels the same way as crazyaboutdisney. So if we can't trade into disney hopefully I will be able to rent points. Because I feel spoiled now and need to be on site.

We own DVC, Marriott and other II timeshares. We use them in different ways and they do complement each other nicely. What is best depends on how you'll use it. DVC is best for on site stays as well as the other DVC resorts. Marriott is better to use and trade for other Marriotts but even then it depends on what you own and how you use it. Non Marriott II properties are better usually because they are cheaper, lower fees and allow an expanded menu of trading. One size does not fit all. You should spend a few months getting educated if you're thinking about this directly. Timeshare Users Group is a great place to get that education.

I'd like to add to this by saying that DVC is best depending how you're going to use it. If you're going to use it exclusively for long weekend stays, cash may be better since point usage is sky-high for Friday and Sat. stays. We're in a position where Disney is relatively close for us and we've been using it repeatedly for long 3 night weekend stays. Its chewing up our points since we can only stay Fridays- Mondays.

We own both DVC and Summit Watch Marriott in Park City Utah.
We stayed at the Grand Vista last year and agree it is nice but it lacks the DVC Disney Magic.
Ski weeks can be had at peak season Jan-March for about 20k.Resale(Summit Watch ) in Park City Otherwise it is a very tough but not impossible trade.

We own DVC and Marriott. We did own Marriott a while back in Williamsburg, VA but sold it and now bought marriott- Mytrle Beach, SC.

They are both great for different purposes!!
