DVC Villa Discounts with AP?

Has anyone had any luck getting discounts on DVC villas using the AP discount? I'm wondering how this may compare to the discounts DVC members get on the same room.

Hi!

Having checked both Jan & Feb at the BWV & VWL, the DVC resorts are being offered at Best Rate. The discounts for the DVC villas are the same as the Deluxes.....$70 off per night. The DVC cash discount is comparable to the Best Rate on a studio during value season, but the DVC discount is better for anything other than that.....

DVC members can get 25% off if booking through DVC member services on cash IF they have it available. Sometimes they will not have it at all, sometimes they will have it but without a discount and sometimes they have it available and with the 25% discount. So you can compare 25% off whichever size villa you're looking for against the AP discount of $70 off per night.

Good to know. MS gave me a price of $340/night for a 1BR at VWL for the dates we requested. I'll have to take a look at the rack rate and subtract $70 to see if this is a better deal.

1bdrms are usually $400 a night but for '06 may have gone up to $410. AAA for '05 was $330. We are going in Dec. and there is not much of a discount out there. In Feb. we got a 1bdrm @BCV for $270. I'm not holding out much hope for anything else.

We paid for one night in a one-bedroom last week in order to extend our point stay and paid something like $310 for the night. This was at the Boardwalk.

You might want to consider renting points from a DVC member. This sometimes works out to be a much better deal. There is a forum for renting points further down on the boards underneath the DVC section. HTH
