When going through DVC when can you request to be near the lobby or a specific view?

You can call member services at any time. I usually make my request when I make the reservation.

But be aware that requests are simply requests. In ten years worth of BWV stays we got our request met exactly once. The remaining visits were not even close.

Also, some view types are not requests, they are booked with your reservation.

We have only had one DVC stay so only one request, we which got! Room requests are never guaranteed, but it can't hurt to at least note it.

I wish more views were in the point chart. Sometimes it is worth paying a premium for what you want. At other times, it isn't really all that important.

ok thanks guys! I'm just going to "try" to get closer to the main lobby in Saratoga. Where should I request for Jambo house Savannah view??

I wish more views were in the point chart. Sometimes it is worth paying a premium for what you want. At other times, it isn't really all that important.

There are disadvantages. I think it leads to a lot of discontent - MK views that are partial, but lake views that have partial MK views. And it leads to availability issues as the resort fills - you can get your weekend in a BWV Standard, but have to switch to a Preferred View for the midweek.

On the other hand, its preferable to someone screaming at the desk clerk that they want to be in the Paddock section.

Yes, view requests can sometimes be very strangely handled. One time I'd made a view request with my original reservation, but at check-in I was told that there was nothing available that met my view request. Further, I had to wait for my room to be ready. When they called that my room was ready, I knew it was HA, no tub and my arthritic knees made me return to the front desk and ask for a different room. Voila-the room they now assigned me met my original view requests. I walked to my room with a big smile, but kind of shaking my head.

Not worth the time and effort from my experience. Other than the views you can pay for with points it does not make much of difference. 20 + times at Disney and we have never been disappointed with our rooms. You get what you pay for.
