DVC trip insurance

I am wondering about the trip insurance that is offered. How does it compare with buying through insuremytrip or some site like that?

What happens with points refunded?

Does one price cover the whole use year no matter how many trips it is split into? What is covered? Airfare on all trips?

Also I am assuming if I am adding a cruise on (paying cash) connected to a dvc stay and I had insurance for that use year dvc I would still need to get additional insurance as I normally would for the cruise right? It wouldn't be covered just because it is connected to a dvc trip right?

I can't answer all your questions, but here are a few answers.

The Travelex insurance from DVC covers all vacations booked with the points from a specific use year. So yes, if you take 4 trips with those points, each trip will be covered. If you combine points from multiple use years by banking and borrowing, you'd have to have the insurance for each of the use years to be fully covered.

If your trip is cancelled or interrupted for a covered reason, you're paid a cash amount for the effected points (if the points can't be rebooked and used) and other expenses associated with the trip.

Airfare is one of the covered items.

Points are not refunded. You get the dues money for the points lost.

for a cruise if you use points to book a cruise or do you have to buy their insurance?
