DVC travel insurance

Dear all,

we booked a trip to WDW on christmas week for 8 days this Dec and I am thinking of getting travel insurance in case the flight got delay or we are forced to arrive a day or two later (we will be purchasing dining plan for the first three days as well).

Any suggestion. Anywhere should we go by?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

We're using Travel Insured because they cover time share point rentals and generally any other non-refundable travel purchase.

No way. Can't be. Points is points. LOL Doesn't really have anything to do with the people involved.

The DVC $79 per insurance covers everybody in the traveling party for as many trips that you take throughout the year. If you have more then one contract that you will using points from, you must pay $79 for each of those contracts per year.

I don't think that this is correct. I think the $79 is per membership, not per contract.

it's $79 per UY. you can enroll another UY if you have multiple UY, maybe that's where the confusion is. but for sure you just enroll your UY.

If you do have to cancel or lose days, you get reimbursed for the dues on the points lost. You don't get to keep the points.

If you want to use the points to reschedule, I think they will still be holding points because you will not be making an insurance claim. If you make a claim, you get the dues money and lose the points. I don't think there is an option to keep the points unrestricted to reschedule.

Reading the part about weather:

"10. Weather that causes complete cessation of services of
the Common Carrier for at least 24 consecutive hours
and prevents You or Your Traveling Companion from
reaching Your destination;"

It would have to be a major storm for complete cessation of services for 24 consecutive hours. I don't see where the dining plan would be covered.

For $79 for an unlimited number of guests, my bet would be that there are VERY few ways to collect. Just my $0.02. Where I come from, they call that $79 a "donation." They should be required to give you a tax claim form when you pay.
