DVC Transportation while at WDW

I posted the question, because on our first DVC trip it seemed as if many DVC's were driving, and the disney transportation (which we love  using) seemed to be very slow. I just wondered from a logistics stand by if more DVC's found using a car more appealing.

While we find renting a car appealing for getting to and from the airport and to and from grocery shopping, we NEVER use it to go to and from the parks. In my opinion, WDW transportation works very well. Taking the bus from OKW to the parks is easier and often faster than driving and parking in a lot. The only time we might drive to a park is at AK if we have dinner ressies somewhere else to get to (AK transportation to OKW is slow), or sometimes on "get away day", we will drive to a park and leave from there for the airport.

We had used a town car service to/from the airport and Disney transportation on property. But since my now wife uses a wheelchair, we have abandoned using Disney buses.

While WDW is known to be very good with disabilities. Our experience has been less than stellar with the wheelchair accessible buses. Three trips in a row we had busses with faulty equipment. And it was more than once per trip. We wrote WDW explaining the problem (never got a response) and now just rent cars and drive. Easy solution!

We drive... just about everywhere... Buses are fine to get TO the park, but we prefer the van for the way home, and since we havent figured out how to work that out... we drive both ways....

This is us too. Yes, transportation to the parks is great, but when we need to get back to the room for our pm break (nap) we are hot and tired and we usually wait 20-30 minutes - completely within the allowed timeframe, but not pleasant for Grumpy, I mean my DH.
Besides we usually visit my family in Daytona so need the car anyway.

We stay at the BWV, which have a great location. We nearly always walk to EPCOT and MGM, but sometimes take the boat. It's a nice relaxing ride.

We take the bus to the MK and drive to the AK, DD/PI, the waterparks and any resort not within walking distance of the BWV.

Best wishes -
This is what we do too, We probably use the boats a little more than you do. We walk about half the time and use the boats the other half. We use the car also to go to the outlets, and offsite stores and restaurants.

when you spend as much time as i do getting stuck for so many hours a week in traffic here on long island new york, i do not want to get into a car at all during my vacation unless someone else is driving(like a limo or wdw bus driver). since my wife feels the same way about driving on vacation, the disney trans system works out perfectly for us. i would rather wait for a bus then deal with not only paying for renting a car but dealing with driving. just one less headache to worry about and more time to relax.
