DD and I will be tagging along with DH on a conference trip in June. I was thinking of doing a DVC tour one day while he is busy working. Is there still such a thing? Can someone describe it for me? Are there any perks?
Thanks!

Sure you can do the tour...schedule it in advance, they'll come and pick you up at your WDW resort. They'll talk with you about current offers, where they are selling, give you a tour of a room at SSR and a mock AK room. Ice cream at the end!!! There really isn't much else. It's not a high pressure sales pitch...it's very informative and you'll get out of it what you put into it. Feel free to use me as a referral...PM me and I'll give you my contact info and my guide!

We just went to a tour two weeks ago and found it to be a very pleasant experience and not at all high pressure. The guide that we had was very easy to talk to. He explained everything very carefully and the models were lovely. We did end up purchasing and I think it will be a good opportunity for our family.

I would agree with the low pressure sales pitch..

If possible, pick a day when you know the weather may be somewhat bad... We went on our tour back in 1999 when Hurricane Erin was hitting the east coast of FL.. The weather was touch and go in Orlando, and the tour provided a good distraction for a few hours... They picked us up at our resort (ASMu) and then dropped us off at DTD so that we could shop.. There were extremely flexible...

We took the tour in 2003, we were only there about an hour. There was no high pressure sales whatsoever. We didn't purchase that day but we did end up buying in 2004 and added on more last year.

The tour is a nice way to spend a couple of hours, plus you get the free ice cream at the end!! We took it once in 2007 but didn't join at that time, and then I did it myself again in Jan, and joined in Feb. Both times were quite nice, and not high pressure at all.

For me... I have always been an early bird.. waking up at 5 or 6am... And at the time my girlfriend liked to sleep to 11am. So that is why I signed up for the tour. I was out the door by 9am... got back to the room somewhere around 10:30... with a club purchase in hand. I believe this was back in 2002. I have a total of 250 points.

I really was not thinking I would purchase. But it just made sense, I am sure the sales person is better than I am. But the way I figured it... I would not go each year. But I have two brothers with kids, and I could send them. Also I have friends with kids and they could use it.

Here is a listing of how I have used it so far. I think it helps to show the flexibility.

2003 -- Sent Friend on his honeymoon.... they stayed 11 nights in a studio in July at OKW.

2004 --- My brother and his two kids... used points to go on Disney cruise ... They did have to pay cash for one adult.

2005 --- Start of my honeymoon --- 4 days at a 1 bedroom at SSR

2006 ---- Banked everything that I could

2007---- July 4th week --- 6 days I believe.... 3 --1 bedrooms 1--studio at BCV

2008 --- Memorial Day 5 nights... a two bedroom at SSR
