DVC Tour

We are heading to WDW Feb. 11-14 and are seriously considering DVC, is it worth doing the tour?? What does the tour entail, how long is it and do you need an appointment???

We are visiting as a side tour while staying with my parents in Naples so we only have the four days there and don't want to spend too much time on this, although we are going to absolutely purchase at AKV before the end of the year. This is my 18th trip and DH 3rd. We know for sure we want to make the investment, but I am curious about the tour.

Cannot say what it is like now? We did the tour within the 1st few months they were offering the Disney vacation Club sales...we did make an appt. They picked us up at our Resort...showed us a short movie and then a brief talk. Then we toured the different accomodations available and ended up having Ice Cream Sundaes and Floats at the 'Soda Fountain' before the ride back to our Resort. I think..maybe from start to finish, 2 hours. But things could be very different now??

We made an appointment ahead of time for our trip last March. What Minnie56 wrote is still pretty much valid in my view. We met the DVC rep at Saratoga Springs (they offered to pick us up but we had our car), chatted about what we were looking for/wanted from DVC ownership and then toured a 1 bedroom mockup of an Animal Kingdom DVC that they have set up. We then toured a couple of Saratoga Springs accommodations. We then went back to the salesman's office to discuss price, other details etc and had an ice cream on the way out. We called him back a couple of days later and bought into Animal Kingdom Villas before we came home. Total time was probably 2 hours each session.

Tour is great...you can make an appointment at any DVC stand either within the parks or at your resort. They will pick you up and drop you back off at you desired location or park .They use to provide you with 3 complimentary vip passes to jump the line at any attraction that had Fast Pass so that you would be compensated for time spent. We purchased our contract before we left on the last day....but we where driving. They have a notary on site to help you with documents but it takes about 1-2 hours depending. We purchased at SSR 3 years ago and have absolutely no regrets other than the fact that it took us 6 trips and 3 tours to decide! Oh and I am not sure but they use to offer complimentary lunch at any of the resturants listed....it was great....and right off the menu. Have a great tour

When we bought our original SSR contract, we were staying at SSR so we didnt do the tour of the rooms, pool, grounds etc.

I think they recommend appts., as the guides are usually busy. It is a one on one, not a group appointment.

Basically knowing we were going to buy before we left Canada our appoint consisted of a few questions and a purchase.

The AKV rooms are available to look at evey evening from 5pm - 7pm at the theater at SSR. No appt necessary, no sales tactics at all, just there for viewing.

We did the tour Feb 06. Same scenerio as PP - walk through at SSR, question & answer, free ice cream at end. They watched the kids for us in a playroom - neither of them minded. We had already done our research here in the DVC forum - answered all of my doubts - so I felt I already new a whole lot before I did our walk through. We already knew how many points we wanted so it was just a matter of filling out the paperwork. Took about 2 hours all together - and as it turned out it was pouring rain - rained all morning so we would have been miserable at the parks anyways. We did it towards the end of our trip so it was a morning off from touring the parks.

The ice cream is good and we also got 4 fastpasses good anytime until we checked out. If you have the time it was fun.

The tour will help you get more information and see the rooms. The guide can answer all your questions. He/She can go over your options in terms of finance (if you want).

The ice cream is good too. That was the only consistent thing. I found the first time we bought, we did receive fasts passes. But when we did our add ons, we just got the ice cream.

During our December trip, they were really pushing for the on-site visit. They can still pick you up if no transport available, and they said to budget 2-3 hours of time for the tour and sit down to look at info/figures. They also kept mentioning free ice cream so our little one would be happy...

We did not end up doing it, as just not enough time. Perhaps in the future

Try to do the tour before you hit the parks because they will offer you some fastpasses as a measure of trying to gain back lost time.

We have already scheduled time in our next trip to take the tour. Even though I am most likely going to buy a resale.

Before buying make sure you have a look at the resales available as it may be much cheaper this way.

Resales of Saratogo Springs Points are going in the $82 - $85 range which is cheaper than buying direct.

We bought SSR resale last fall and it was so simple. I was worried about not buying directly through Disney but the cost savings was too much to ignore. We did our research and decided to go through Jaki Apetz at www.**********.com. (formerly of A Timeshare Broker, Inc). She answered all my questions and we were so pleased.
