DVC to sell to NYers by end of Feb.

After missing each other's calls, I finally spoke to my temp. guide Kathy earlier. I was inquiring about having a friend from NY pick up papers for us while she is in WDW. She said they would have to know ahead of time and I would have to get a power of attorney for her to sign for me. Two, I asked about having them sent to a friend in NJ and she said, they would have to be notarized in the same state and address would have to be changed in system. Kathy said not to worry, they should be selling to NY by end of Feb. If it was 6 months or so like WLV then perhaps I might consider one of these two options. I guess I will wait a few more weeks before adding on.

Thanks soooo much for the follow-up update. I was just checking over dates and fares on Southwest in contemplation of a quick trip to WDW to purchase our add on. I guess we can wait until the end of February.
While it really stinks that we are temporarily shut out of DVC sales, I wouldn't trade living in NY for anything (except WDW)

I wouldn't worry about it. You are not gonna miss much by waiting till the end of Feb. Nobody can make reservations until March 6 anyway. And the resort doesn't open until at least August.

We were also planning for a west. carib cruise in July '03. We could not decide if we should use some points and stay a few nights before or after cruise or take the three nights free or take the $5 off p.point. Well, she also answered that question, free nights must be taken by July 1st, 2003. That is not good for us, since we have no points and nothing planned (Myrtle Beach 2002) for WDW , I guess now we know we are taking the $5 off incentive.

Be prepared for your guide being wrong.

When we decided to buy at VWL, our guide said NY would be approved in a month or two. It didn't happen. It was much longer. We ended up flying down to WDW to purchase on site before the price went up. They can't know when New York will approve sales. In my experience, they are making an educated guess.

I agree. We kept being told "In a couple of weeks" from March till they got OK'd in mid to late June. They did not get approved till after the price increase. Our guide called a couple days after we started the add on process and told us he got us the pre increase price.

I spoke to my guide about 2 weeks ago and she said that they began the approval process for NY MUCH earlier this time and that they were hoping for March 1. We're considering a 50 point add on at BCV for our use year (if we can).

I did ask my guide about that very option (my daughter lives in the approved state of NC) and she infromed me that their lawyers won't allow that to be done any longer since 9/11. So, in the mean time we are sitting here chomping at the bit waiting to be approved. Thank goodness we already have BWV to dream about

Well today is March 1st. No call from guide. I called her and her answering/voice mail said she will be away from the office 3/1 til 3/6 and to call so and so if I needed to. I guess no need to, I would of heard something on this board first. Anyone have any updates, has anyone heard how close are they to selling to NY. Just curious. Thanks. (I had also asked about having papers sent to NJ - they would have to change my address in their system - papers would also have to notarize in that same state). Too much of a hassle if you ask me).

DH called our guide last night to see if she knew anything. She told him that she does have us on her "to call" list but they aren't expecting anything until sometime after March 6th - hopefully by the end of March at least! So now it looks as if we get shut out of the March 6th 11 month booking window as far as the holidays go. (7 months out is only October). oh well.

It stinks that your guide told you that she'd call you on 3/1 to tell you 'something/anything' and is now putting you off. Who was it on an earlier thread that said this would probably happen? That they would string us along! Bummer.
