I just got an email from DVC asking me to participate in an online survey regarding DVC perks. I'm off to complete the survey now!

"We hope you are enjoying your Membership in Disney Vacation Club! You have been randomly selected to participate in a survey of Disney Vacation Club Members. We learned from our Annual Condominium Association survey that the collection of perks is an important part of membership. This study is to help us understand your impressions of current and potential Disney Vacation Club Member perks.

Please be assured that the information you share with us is confidential and will not be used for any other purpose.

To complete the survey, please click here.

We ask that you please complete this survey prior to June 13, 2010.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

Your friends at the Disney Vacation Club "

Thanks Doc. It will be interesting to see what kind of questions they are asking. I received a similar on-line survey about my Disney Visa card perks and most of the questions asked if I used specific perks or if I'd like some specific new ones. In case you're not sure, say that yes you do use every perk and they are all your favorites. :thumbsup2

Enjoy the survey! :)

I just got the email too! First time for me to be asked. I have to go back to work, but you can bet I'm doing this when I get home tonight!:thumbsup2

The first past of the survey consisted of information about how we use our membership - # of stays at WDW since 1971, # of DVC stays, # of DL trips, # DL stays, etc. There were questions about merchandise and dining purchases which then led to the "perks" section.

This consisted of 18 screens with 5-6 perks listed on each page asking to select "Most Interested/Least Interested" options among those choices. The suggested perks were all repeated several times in these screens, again asking "Most Interested/Least Interested". The next section asked for ratings (score of 1-10) of many of those choices followed by some more specific questions about why those scores were given.

The survey ended with some demographics and more opportunity for input.

Here are the most of the perk options as presented in the survey but I may have missed a few. Please note that many of these are current perks:

1. Discounts on tickets for Disney on Broadway performances in New York City

2. Discounts on tickets to Cirque du Soleil™ La Nouba

3. Free access to Member appreciation events, such as "Welcome Home Wednesdays" and "Merry Member Mixer"

6. Disney Vacation Club Golf Membership available to purchase for a nominal cost
(Provides the Member and up to three Guests with discounted per-round pricing at all Walt Disney World® golf courses for a full year from the date of purchase.)

7. Cash reward for referring others who join Disney Vacation Club

8. Sneak preview events to experience new Disney Parks attractions and shows before opening to the public

9. Discounts on select Walt Disney World® Theme Park tours
(such as Disney's Keys to the Kingdom, Behind the Seeds, Backstage Safari, etc.)

10. Discounts on select Disneyland® Resort Annual Passes

11. Discounts on select Walt Disney World® Resort Annual Passes

12. Special offers/discounts for tickets to Walt Disney World® Theme Park events
(such as Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party)

13. Free Photopass photo or Free Shipping on Photopass CD

14. Free 1 week RCI exchange for up to 4 people

15. Free parking at Disney Theme Parks

16. The ability to reserve (for a fee) a night at Cinderella's Castle Suite (WDW) and the Dream Suite (DL)

17. Discounts on marina/recreational activities (Sea Raycers, pontoon boats, bicycles)

18. Free D23 membership

19. Access to pre-opening, after closing shopping events with special prices

20. Coupon books with vouchers for free popcorn and beverages in Theme Parks

21. Free internet for members at DVC resorts

22. Discounts on WDW single and multi-day Theme Park admissions

23. Discounts on DL single and mulit-day Theme Park admissions

24. Tiered recognition for perks based on number of points owned and member referrals

I'd LOVE an opportunity to give my opinion on that one!

Doc, some of those last ones are things some here have speculated on. I would take this to mean they are thinking of changing the perks or "enhancing" our membership some more. Frankly, in some ways, I think maybe some of those are expendable. I have to believe there are some perks on there that are rarely used by a majority of folks.

I wish they'd send that email to me! Some of those perks at the end are interesting Doc. I wonder what kind of responses they'll get and when we might see any changes reflected in our memberships.

The list of perks I posted is in no particular order except what I could remember and write down. I'm sure I might have missed something, but not many.

I think the purpose of grouping them (with repeats) was to get some sort of ranking for how these were viewed. I'd expect there will be some sort of bias to add to the mix (I don't play golf, so I placed a low priority on that option - and I apologize to the golfers). The random sample used to complete the survey should account for those issues.

I gave a low ranking to the 10% discount at Arribas Brothers and the next screen asked me why I scored it so low. My response was that 10% was not enough of an incentive to get me in that store - obviously others may feel differently. I was pretty consistent scoring the AP discount - since I do use that - but did add comments later suggesting that a discount on single day/multi day passes would bea good option. I was also careful to highly rate the free internet service for members, as that is a nice perk IMO.

It seemed to be a well-crafted survey and it would be interesting to see the results - but that's not likely to happen until we see changes to the perks. I also commented about removing some of the Concierge Collection choices and not replacing them with comparable options in the same geographic areas. That was not a survey question, only my own .02 at the end. There was also an opportunity to suggest perks offered by other timeshares or by DVC in the past (that's where I mentioned the discount on admission passes besides the AP discount.

This was the first comprehensive survey I been part of since the one years ago asking for opinions about adding a slide to the OKW pool. That survey was not online - it was a multi-page printed questionnaire. That was also an interesting process! ;)

Oooh-with DVC's record of "you have been randomly selected to participate in a member survey", lots of us should receive it. This is one survey I'd love to participate in.

15. The ability to reserve (for a fee) a night at Cinderella's Castle Suite (WDW) and the Dream Suite (DL)
I'm certain the fee will be out of my price range but it's interesting that they are considering this.

I just got back from WDW and OKW and enjoyed my "perk" at Fulton's for lunch with friends. I did not get an invitation to participate in the survey, but I would also like to know some results/ numbers that are generated by Disney's findings/results.

Some perks are nice like "Keyes to the Kingdom"...and others probably not utilized and should be dropped. Maybe Disney will realize from the findings that DVC members are important contributors to such programs. Here's hoping that the findings will be used in our favor!

I received the survey invition too. Now to decide what "other" perks I'd like to see!

I didn't get a survey. :guilty:

TX is one of the states where we aren't allowed to get anything for referring new members. So those "perks" are NOT perks for us!

We definitely use the AP discount, and we use the free internet.

A lot of the discounts on merchandise and whatever are the same for Disney Visa, AP holders, DVC, AAA, etc. We have ALL of those, so again, not terribly valuable.

DH used to play a lot of golf, but there is no way he would ever pay to bring his clubs on the plane. Not sure if he would want to play with rental clubs.

The shipping on a PhotoPass CD is $7. Free shipping is thoughtful, but it's not much of a savings.

I wonder if they're trying to reduce the perks based on the top responses of the survey... and then they'll market it as "Perks enhancement based on member survey!" ... :lmao:
Yeah yeah, I know... I'm being a snot ... :)

Thanks Doc for the info. It's interesting. Because in 10 yrs of being a member this is the first time I've heard of an actual member survey... it always made me wonder whenever they said "enhancement based on member survey" on who they surveyed.
Well at least now I know :)

ps: Whoever are taking the survey, please please please say "Extremely Interested" to #15.... please... with chocolate fudge, whipped cream and cherry on top...

:thumbsup2 Yes we have all mulled these over. WISHING for some of these. :cloud9: I would have loved to get that survey too!!!

GOOD JOB DOC!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2 FROM YOUR KEYBOARD STRAIGHT TO THE DVC PEEP'S EARS!!!

Just took the survey myself. Pretty comprehensive with 18 sets of perks where you choose the least important and most important.
I consistently rated WDW annual pass discount high, and referral rewards low, since CT is "one of those states".

Would be interested in reserving the Castle Suite, but the "fee" may be interesting ---- but for one night, it would be awesome.

Hmm,

You know, having completed the survey I wish I had left some feedback on the final question about the survey itself. I wish the results would be published. I'd like to see for myself. I'm a strong beliver in transparency.
