DVC Strategy: Multiple home resorts vs One home with many points

Kind of depends on your usual trip schedule, I like to do 5 days at AKV Club level and then 3 days at monorail Resort and then 6 at BWV for Epcot festivals.
So, I need a bit more AKV points. Usually about a 350 point stay every 2 years for me. I have 160 AKV, 35 OKW and 70 BWV with 75 CCV in ROFR, excess points usually rent or bank for bigger splurge.

Depends on how you like to travel and where you want to stay. Split stays in hard to book locales - definitely multiple. Whatever is available at 7m - then go for the cheapest points available/take advantage of incentives.

We are a BC family so the bulk of our points are there, but I'm glad we have multiple home resorts. I hope to pick up one more (Poly tower), though if CCV ever got hard to book and there were a good deal on points I might be tempted.

Multiple homes for me. I want the option to stay at the various resorts. And some you need to own at the resort. So I have SSR for sleep around, VGC for exclusive use, and AKV for a combo of sleep around and exclusive use. In the case of VGC, it is near impossible to get in there at 7 months, so I needed to own points there. I love AKV and stay there once a year or every other year so I like having points there. And then I own SSR and have never actually stayed there.

Two home resorts. One with a June UY, the other with a December UY. Medium number of points each. Travel on alternating years. That would be ideal IMO.
I actually have 3 resorts, but treat them like 2. Also, I have Sep UY instead of Dec, but I treat it like it was December.

We own at multiple resorts and go for 3-4 nights stays every 6-8 weeks because we live in Florida. I like the variety having different home resorts and we book at 11 months so we can get exactly what we want without having to hope it’s available at 7 months out. BLT for 4th, VGF for valentines (used to go to V&A, can’t wait for it to re-open), bwv for food and wine, treehouse for Labor Day weekend, savanna view for memorial weekend, etc.

I have 5 resorts with 3 UY. March for fall travel. October for spring/summer travel. April at HH. I dedicate the resorts for certain periods and bank unused. If I ever have to combine at the 7 month mark, I'll deal with that later. It never has happened. I want different availability.

We love Copper Creek and it's mostly where we want to stay. That's why we have 3 CC contracts and are currently playing ROFR roulette to obtain more. We also love Hilton Head so picked up a resale contract there last year. Basically we buy at our favorite resorts and love knowing we can get in a 11 months. If we want to check out another resort, we might switch at 7 months if we can, but if not we love knowing we have a reservation at our "home". We tend to travel popular times (Fall, Christmas), and we don't like split stays. So we might not be able to switch at 7 months, making the "buy where you want to stay" advice even more important to us.

Now ...... Poly2 has me pulling back a bit on the additional CC points we buy. We love that resort but don't like studios so we've never considered buying there. Assuming speculation is correct and Poly2 will have 1, 2, and 3 BR villas, we will probably add on there. But that's it. Three home resorts are plenty for us. While we like the other resorts, we only want to own at our favorites.

We have 2 contracts with the same resort and use year. We like our home resort and having the 11 month advantage there, so it made sense to bundle them together for longer trips or bigger villas. We also only usually go once a year, maybe twice if they're shorter trips.
