I was just on looking at rooms for FEb and the site shut down. Sat july 5

I was just in the DVC site and was looking at the new Availbility Checker Tool and it worked fine. I've been playing around in there off and on for a half an hour. Were you using online booking?

Edit: I just went back in and used Online Booking and everything seemed to work okay. But then I didn't actually book anything either.

I just checked 3 times and it's down for me, I was looking at dates for check-in. I wasn't going to book yet. I have no dashboard. If you see this post now check again and let me know. thanks

Was working for me at 8 AM, so I got the AKL-CL room that was available.
Tried to go back in @8:30 and the web-site has been down for me ever since.
Call MS at 9, they said yes they are having web-site issues today and to try again in an hour. Still down as of right now for me.

Just called member services--the wait time was 40 minutes??? Tried getting through last week and the message said 30 minutes. Is this the new normal? I don't ever remember wait times this long. I realize they were closed yesterday (July 4th) and the website seems to be having some issues today, but WOW these seem like unusually long wait times.

Is this everyone's experience?

Just called myself. 40 min is ridiculous. I had a 20 min wait about a month ago. Used to never be on hold more than a few minutes.

Was down yesterday every time I checked 'for maintenance' and again this morning. My phone wait on my 7 month pt. a little over a month ago was 47 minutes.
Just checked site is still down, 3:15 pm eastern time, probably not a good sign that the site still warns ms will be closed 7/4 when it's already 7/5.
I always wonder about these longer than usual maintenance shut downs - as w/ the WDW site @ least when they come back up they seem to lose data sometimes.

These threads pop up a lot. It's not uncommon for the website to go down off and on at least 1 day a week. It's only news when it goes down for more then a day.

Yep. But then again, who would expect the largest entertainment company in the world to have a reliable website?... ;)

It's somehow comforting, though, when you are trying to do something online @ some deadline (11 months, 7 months, 180 days, etc.) when you see that some other person somewhere is suffering the same angst you are w/ a down Disney site while waiting for the phones to open up and then once they do while you listen to Disney tunes as you wait forever on the phone. Misery loves company, I suppose.

Absolutely !!!!

Breaking news ..............
DVC Member Services will be closed July 4th . Just thought I would let everyone know in case you want to go back in time a few days.

Sheesh .......... why does Disney have such issues with their websites. Seems to me like they should have the absolute best running websites ......... period. After all they are the top dog in the entertainment field, and have an almost limitless budget to work with to get their own websites running smoothly .

Just dont know how they could have so much trouble :confused3 .

Their "limitless budget" is limited by our dues. This is the member website which is paid for by the members.

Well even at that, there still should be a lot less "down time" for such a mainstream website. It just doesnt look good for their websites (all of them) to have so much trouble. Being Disney , they should have a very good budget in the IT dept for any and all off their website markets.
Even if "members" are paying for some (or all) of it, it is still a huge marketing /advertising venue that they should work very hard to keep running smoothly.

It's a website with multiple connections to multiple primary and backup servers that contain Terabites upon Terabites of data across miles and miles of public and private networks. Disks fill up, servers go down, network paths get cut accidentally. And 90% of the time, they have to rely on vendors to fix major problems. (They may not own the servers or network) And this data is accessed by thousands of users and CMs simultaneously and almost instantaneously in a system that is continuously updating.

It's the system users pay for. Users who want new villas, refurbished villas, perks, knowledgeable staff, clean rooms, a fast, simple website etc. but don't want fees over $5/point. I'm not making excuses for them. I'm trying to give you some perspective. I guarantee you they are working hard to make sure these things don't happen.
