Now that the DVC is moving their offices to SSR, what is going in the space on the Boardwalk where their old office was? Thanks!

Good question! The move does open up alot of space that would be great for retail/restaurant/club. Does anyone know?

It is becoming DVC rooms and as noted above those were the points they were selling in 2003.

So there are DVC rooms that are actually on the Boardwalk (ie. the ground level where the retail, etc.) is located. Wouldn't those rooms be exposed to alot of noise? I am thinking of the entrance to the former DVC sales office.

According to the annual report, there will be 16 more units at BWV (from 367 to 383). I wonder if any will be on the first floor facing the Boardwalk? I don't think I would like that, especially with all the activity coming in and out of Jellyrolls. I kind of doubt it, there are no other first floor rooms facing the Boardwalk (Villas or Inn). Some of the DVC models face the pool or courtyard.

I'm sure that the models on both sides of the hallway will be converted into BWV units.

There's been speculation on this board (or wishful thinking) about a coffee bar with really good, brewed coffee.

But that space was never designed to be retail or restaurant space, and it's not suitable.

I can't see a 1 st floor boardwalk villa either. As DebbieB pointed out there are no other 1st floor boardwalk villas on either the villa or inn side so maybe all these spaces are designated retail???? A coffee shop or soda/burger shop would be fantastic!

Take a look at the exterior of the Boardwalk DVC sales center at this site: http://www.reid4florida.com/boardwalk_photos_click_to_enlarg.htm

You can click on the picture for a larger image.

Unlike the restaurant and retail spaces elsewhere along the Boardwalk, the sales center has residential ceiling height and does not have a retail facade.

And, as noted earlier in this thread, the models have been declared into DVC inventory, and have been sold as BWV DVC points.

It will be interesting to see if these ground floor units will have large private decks facing the Boardwalk (up to the current railing, as shown on the picture) -- or if the decks are reduced in depth to allow some sort landscaping buffer between the decks and the Boardwalk.

There would only be room for about 4 or 5 units on the ground level (depending on if they are studios or 1 bedrooms, there are 5 balconies above the area in the picture), so the question is if they counted that area in the 16 units declared into inventory. The models I toured for VWL, BCV & SSR didn't face the boardwalk. Don't they also have office space in that area? If they are planning to make those DVC units, I would expect some high landscaping up to where the porch is now, you wouldn't want people walking right next to your room patio. If they did want to use it for retail or restaurant (assuming the 16 units does not include that area), they could take out the steps and the porch and reconstruct with a lower floor, to make it level with the Boardwalk and a higher ceiling. I wish I would have thought to ask about this at the annual meeting.

The sales offices are on the ground floor of the Crest of the Wave building.

You can the front of the Crest of the Wave building if you scroll down on the following page:
http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/wdwguide/4_Accommodations/BW_photo_tour_boardwalk.htm

You can also see how the bottom floor of this building is simply residential spece. Compare it to the commercial space elsewhere along the Boardwalk.

Remember that a 2BR requires 3 bays, a 1BR requires 2 bays, and a Studio requires 1 bay.

We bought into BWV from Disney onsite this past July (right before they started selling SSR) and they told us they were making them into villas and that's why they had more points to sell.

Does anyone know when the sales office is moving to SSR? Then there would have to be reconstruction time before the units would be ready. Probably not until at least late 2004 for the new units? So how were they able to sell additional BWV points in 2003? They weren't dated for later use like the initial SSR points, right?
