I know what the busy seasons and not so slow seasons are for regular booking but how do they compare to busy and slow seasons with Dvc bookings? Basically when are there more availability and when is hardest bookings to get.

I have the same questions - wanting to know real world experience chances of NOT getting the 9 and 10 point rooms, especially given new sales are only for GFV as your home with advance booking.

You can purchase any DVC resort direct from DVC although some may require a waitlist. And it costs a lot more than resale but it can be done. Also Aulani and PVB are available for sale direct without any waits. I'd suspect you could get AKV and SSR without any waits too.

But resale makes more sense for most resorts.

BTW - don't use the lowest "cost rooms" as a consideration - you may end up very disappointed in DVC. Those very rooms are limited in quantity.

DVC is designed to be full (98% occupancy) the whole year. The way to get any particular room is to book it far in advance. The lowest point rooms almost Lways require the home-resort advantage.

Plus effort! Getting online before 8am, possibly walking a reservation!

Just to give you an idea: VGF standard studio, very limited numbers. This morning at 8:05am, Sunday 1/10/16 was open. This morning at 10:22am, 1/10/16 is gone! It was open all yesterday and 1/11 is open as well. It makes me think many people are walking... so it looks like if I want MLK 2016, I'll have to do the same!:confused3

DVC as PP mention is designed to booked at 98% full every night of the year.
DVC very high season is mid-Sept through mid-Jan.
DVC high season is mid-Jan through mid-Sept except around the holidays when if goes back to very high season.
AKL-CL and value studios are the hardest to book IMHO.
BWV standard is the next hardest.
BCV, VWL, GCV, & GFV are next due to the small size of the resorts.

DVC very high season is mid-Sept through mid-Jan. (Most likely need to book before 7-month window to get desired availability.)

GFV, BLT standard, followed by BWV standard are the next hardest.

This a good summary - added a few things myself above.
Studios (most popular) and Grand Villas (few available) are the hardest to get, followed by 2-bedrooms. 1-bedrooms are easiest because they are higher points than studios but still only sleep 4-5.
In general, you can always get SOMETHING on property at 7-months out in all room categories. For the fall window (Oct-Dec) the studios will be mostly gone shortly after the 7-month mark. 1-bedrooms rooms will be available longer.
