Below is a chart that details the DVC contract sales since the beginning of year 1999 through September 2007. This year is on pace to set a new sales record for DVC with over 23,000 contracts projected to be sold. The rate of DVC sales has doubled from just four years ago.

Note: The large spikes in recorded sales in May 2004 and June 2002 are due to "Pre-sale" contracts being delayed and recorded in a single month once the resort first opens.

The chart below shows the comparison of Saratoga Springs sales versus Animal Kingdom Villas sales for this year. The sales of SSR and AKV are approaching a 50/50 split.

Well, I guess that 11 month window will become more and more valuble for the smaller resorts like BCV and VWL....not much chance to get those at less than 7 months!!!!

I think that DVC should start thinking about setting up a two tier system...if they keep on setting up these mega resorts like SSR, they will end up completely swamping the smaller resorts.

Another option is to change the 11/7 months windows. Maybe to 11/4 or something like that. The option to change booking dates is included in the POS so they could do it without asking anybody.

This would give owners at the smaller resorts more time before getting 'swamped'.

If Disney were to ever make a change, my guess is it would go in the opposite direction. Disney is primarily in the business of selling new resorts. The ability to stay at many resorts is a huge selling feature. If anything, they want to make it easier to stay at non-home resorts rather than making it easier to stay at home resorts.
