Excited that we will be in The Kingdom in September and looking forward to attending the DVC Safari Spectacular when we are there. I know no one probably knows...but I am an overplanner and at 90 days to go...now finding things to fret about. The WDW web site calendar has Animal Kingdom closing at 5pm on most days in September including the party days of Sept 6,13,22,27... I assume this is likely to change since they are supposed to have nighttime events going on from here on out (or so I assume).

The DVC Safari party has times of 9:30pm- midnight listed... would Disney be likely to close the parks at 5 and reopen just for the DVC party? Or is it more likely they will extend the open hours on these days? I know probably no one really knows, but didn't know if there was any past precedent... We usually just do a 1/2 day at AK and would be nice to plan to just arrive at 4 or so and stay to midnight rather then doing 2 separate trips over there...

I am so glad that you posted this thread. I too am an over-planner and was also wondering about AK hours as I also noticed it says that the park closes at 5pm. We have an early dinner at 4:30 on Tuesday Sept. 27th, and would love to be able to say in the park afterwards for the night time DVC party. I hope they post more information about this for us DVC members!

I'm concerned that they might cancel the DVC party. I would be very bummed. I would love to hear if we would maybe get a showing of the River of Light show. ??

Why would they cancel the party?
We plan on being there on the 22 so I hope not. But I am wondering about the timing of the event. Maybe they will close at 5 to make sure all are out before we get in. What happened to MK parties?

Add me to the list of folks who are looking for more details. I'm not counting on ROL, though I'd love it. We have a resort booked, but depending on what the DVC party is, I'd prefer to hit F&W when the weather is cooler than it will be in September. Of course this is all contingent on even the possibility of getting on the party list on July 6. :earsboy:

We hope to attend the party on the 13th. (Assume we will be able to get tickets)' so tagging along to the discussion.

We're hoping to get 6 tickets to the 9/27 party. We went to the Magic Kingdom party in march and had a great time. It would be great to see ROL but I'm not really expecting it. Can't wait to see the projection show on the Tree of Life.

I was so happy that our vacation that was planned last October included a date for this event! Plus, we're at AKV, so it should be easy transportation!

We are so excited as well! Does anyone know how many guests you can bring? Also, does everyone need park tickets to get in? Does everyone I make a reservation for have to be staying on our resort reservation at the time of the event (I am not even sure if you need to have an active reservation to go lol)? This will be our first special DVC event and are so excited to hopefully be able to get tickets!!

According to the DVC website you will need a resort reservation to book the event. We are hoping to go to the one on the 27th and will be our first DVC event as well. Which one are you hoping to attend?

Wrote to MS to ask if all dates will be booked July 6 or it there will be staggered booking. The answer was to check back closer to July 6!

The event details page does not yet give specifics on booking requirements other than the booking start date. In one place it does say a reservation is required, but this refers to having a reservation for the actual event itself.

yea right now it will not say if you can bring guests or just the DVC members.

they will reopen the party - don't worry about that - now if there is a storm then it could be cancelled or rescheduled (but don't count on that)

they allowed early entry for the MK party - so think they had problem with guests (non DVC) who stayed. So pretty sure they want this to be only CURRENT dvc members. Which is why it is much later than the park is opened - of course it could be a mistake and the party might start at 6pm will just have to wait and see.

the last time the only dvc members I meet were like me living in Florida.

They used wristbands for the MK events similar to what they use for the MNSSHP & MVMCP. Beginning at 9 pm, if you didn't have a wristband, you could not enter any attractions, restaurants, etc.

At the MK parties, we could get in to the park about 3 hours before the park closed, everyone staying for the party was given a wrist band to wear, and those that did not have the wrist band were escorted out of the MK right after 9:30.
