DVC Safari Spectacular reservations????

Oh really? The CM that helped me said they usually serve appetizers and possibly a buffet...vegetarian options are available. Either way I'm still happy but hopefully there will be more than just snacks.

Not at these events.

That has been done at sales events.

I got in after 135 tries of calling. My hold music was; Soarin', American and Pirates Life for Me. Total time from on hold to end of call was 26:10. Got in for 9/22. They said the event starts at 9:30 but we could enter park anytime after 7pm. I'm showing the park closes at 7pm. So I'm not really sure what there is between 7-9:30 then? Just stores open?
See you there, same day

Got through !!!!
8 for September 22 !!!!
Sooooooo happy !!!

Called right at 9:00. Busy. Took about 20 redials before I got hold music. About 20-25 minutes on hold. Got tickets to 9/22/16 by 9:35.
You can enter park @ 7:00 PM (I have AP so doesn't matter to me). They said the reservation will pop-up in "My Disney Experiences" but that hasn't happened yet.

Waited 13 minutes . We got reservation for 4 on Sept 22nd . Have a magical day to everyone.
See you all there, hope for good weather.

I was able to book for September 27th.
I'm so excited! I was told that there would be chips, refreshments and ice cream. I'm so excited to go to my first DVC event, on my first DVC trip none-the-less :-D
The CM said that it wouldn't link to MDE or that I wouldn't receive a confirmation email (weird), but she did help me add it as a Note to My Itinerary.

I was able to book for Sept. 6th after being on hold for 30 minutes. I was told there would be several kiosks open for food and drink sales and some free refreshments and snacks would be served throughout the evening. Also, the nighttime safari will be running along with the rivers of lights show and most rides will be open. Can't wait! Keep trying, you will get through eventually.

I rang a bit later and did have any waiting time but it took 35 mins for the CM to book us on to the 13th September event as it wouldn't accept it at first, can't wait this will be our first DVC event.

What a fiasco. There has got to be a better system, like online do it yourself. I started calling at 9 while trying to work. Redial, hit 1, busy signal, hang-up, repeat process for 23 minutes. Got through to the hold queue recordings, "we care about your call" but really not so much to figure out a better system. Then another 23 1/2 minutes holding praying not to be disconnected, rearranging my work schedule to accommodate this fiasco, then finally a live human. At first she can't find me in the system, I'm like yeah, two contracts keep looking. Give her my member number and then without saying "oh there you are" just starts verifying information. 3 1/2 minutes of conversation and 50 minutes from beginning to end we're booked for the 22nd.

In this age of technology there has to be a better way. While I am glad I have a confirmation number I'm not sure what good that will do if we show up and they can't find me then. (Never have any trouble finding for dues.) No email confirmation, no My Disney Experience confirmation, hopefully no glitches at the event.

I'd be fine with just light snacks. I mean, it is a complimentary event after all. At least it's not like a regular Disney dessert party where they charge me the full adult price for my 10yo DD, which includes unlimited alcoholic beverages, and my daughter is not even old enough to drink!!! How idiotic is that? At dessert parties like that, I think they should lower the price and just offer a cash bar. Either that, or offer an alcohol-free price point. Maybe have different wristbands for guests that paid the full price for included alcoholic beverages and a different wristband for guests who paid the lower price for no alcohol. My wife and I don't drink either. So, I'd much rather pay a lower price that does not include unlimited alcoholic beverages we are never going to consume.

THIS!!! For the life of me, I can't figure out why they price the Star Wars dessert parties that include all you can drink the same as the "dry" version at MK. Everybody knows that alcohol is the smallest profit margin...maybe they balance it all out that way.

Btw I didn't recognize you without your pirate regalia ;)!

My experience was not positive booking this event either. I knew I had no chance of booking it later in the day, so resigned myself to calling and being on hold while at the gym after my weights class. I parked myself on a spin bike at the front of the gym near the door so I'd get a signal...thought maybe I would get through in twenty minutes and I'd just get my cardio done. Forty five minutes later, I was feeling like I was falling over due to now having worked out for almost two hours straight and still on hold listening to the Haunted Mansion narrative loop over and over and over and that grating voice telling me I could book dining online. An hour into it, I finally got through, and my phone died o_O.

I was able to get through later in the day and book for the 22nd, but my legs are jelly.

Do they normally have character meets at events like this? Wondering if Mickey and Minnie would likely be available to meet. Or anyone else. That would save me a FP on my AK park day. I'm not sure what to expect for this.
My guess is they will haul out Tarzan, Pocahontas, Russell and Dug...the usual AK characters, plus maybe Safari Mickey etc. from TH.

I was really surprised at not even being put into a queue this morning. It took about an hour of calling in before I got into the hold queue. I was on hold for 25mins. It took about 5 mins to get my confirmation for the event on the 13th of Sep.
It sounds like they are all caught up with the demand now. I wonder how many tickets are going to be issued for this event.

I got that email yesterday at 3:30pm and immediately called. I got right through, but my CM and "the system" was SLOOOWWW. But, the end result is that we have 4 booked for Sept 6th, and 3 booked for Sept 13th. I'm looking forward to checking it out, but with Dinosaur down for renovations, no shows (LK & Nemo) going on, and KS closing at 10:30pm, I'm really wondering what exactly will be available to do? I mean seems like EE could be REALLY busy?

I tried to enter my confirmation number into MDE, but it won't take it. Does anyone have it showing up (or had success in entering it)?

No success entering into MDE, other than having the confirmation number on you seems there is no way to electronically verify. No confirmation email, no MDE, no snail mail or hard ticket. Not sure if it will appear on magic band, but doubting it. When I hold mine up to the light I don't see it.

When you check-in for the event, the CM will have a tablet and will search for your name. You will need your DVC Member ID Card & Photo ID. Once they've verified you are on the list, they will mark you as checked-in and issue you the event specific wristbands. If they do like they did for the MK events, CMs will be available to check you in at the DVC Resorts or outside of the park entrance.

So, we can enter the park at 7:00pm, but AK is currently shown closing at 8:00pm. The event starts at 9:30pm. So what happens between 8:00 and 9:30pm?
Rivers of Light? Jungle Book? Emptying of ride queues?
It would seem strange to be allowed to enter at 7:00pm, but then have to leave at 8:00pm, to return at 9:30pm. Will we be asked to leave and then re-enter? Could we get in ride lines between 8:00 and 9:30pm?

I'm also still wondering what we'll all be doing from 10:30pm to 12:00am... with Dino, KS, and shows all closed... what's left? Primevil Whirl, TriceraTop Spin, Tough to be a Bug, and EE?

Last December, my family stayed until (a late) close at AK and it was really cool. It was very dark and fairly empty. I think we rode EE about 5 times in a row, at night! It was a nice experience to casually walk around and out of the park, at night, with very few guests.

On the web site, go to the day you booked in your itinerary and click "Add Plans" at the top left, then select "Add a Note". Or, on the app, click the plus sign and then the hat with stars coming out of it, and then "Notes" at the bottom.

You'll be able to select the location (Animal Kingdom) and put in a description of what it is. I put "DVC Safari" as the short description and the confirmation number in the details box.

It'll then show up in your MDE itinerary.
