DVC Room Request Question

We are checking into Beach Club in one week and I put two general requests in about a month ago (pool view and high floor). Almost every time we've stayed here (our home resort) we've been placed in the same less-than-great room (340) - I've read that perhaps they do that to make you feel like you are "home." I would also be very happy with a woods (non-Epcot) view but didn't want to overload my room request.

My question: Once you're within a week of your stay, is it too late to make room request changes? I hate being a pain but I also don't want that room again.

I have stayed more that 250 times since '93. I do not believe that I have every been in the same room twice.
That includes 3 AKL-C studio stays that have only 5 studios in the category.
There is no truth to the rumor that you are auto-placed in the same room all the time. If you get assigned to that room again just go to the front desk and request a change.

I just was there and didn’t get my request to be close to elevator due to mediCal issue. We were in room 378...the last room down the hall.

I even asked about being changed but they couldn’t. At least we had decided last minute to rent ECVs or my friend and I would have had a really really rough time.

Thanks for your responses! I also submitted a touring plans request so will see what happens. Thx again.

LOL-I've had that room also, and wasn't thrilled with it either because it faced the road. Unfortunately, I had requested a woods view, and I think that room is considered "woods view". That's the reason I request "pool view" now-I don't want to face the road, and yet, I'm afraid that if I request a room "not facing the road", they might just see "facing the road" and put me there.
