DVC restaurant discounts?

From what I've read DVC guests (and renters?) will typically get a 10% discount on "selected" WDW restaurants, & that you get a list of restaurants at check-in.

How extensive is this list? Does it change often?

I've heard that AAA members & Disney Visa card holders may also get a discount. Is it similar to DVC list? I'm trying to plan ADRs, & considering getting the Disney Visa would be worth it or not.

If it's all that confusing, should I just make my ADRs where I want to eat, & after the meal just plop down my KTTW, AAA card, & Disney Visa on the table and see what happens?

As I recall, there are at least a half-dozen restaurants on the list, though some are limited to just lunch. The list changes often but each time doesn't seem to change much.

I don't believe the Disney VISA got us any dining discounts at the parks. There is a discount at the Disney merchandise store at DTD, and it does get you into a Meet & Greet with some characters at Epcot.

I just logged in to the Disney Visa website to check what the current offers are for the WDW Resort. There aren't any discounts for dining at the present time. There's a 10% offer for Disneyflorist.com; a Character meet 'n' greet; $50 onboard credit for DCL; and offers on travel.

DVC discounts: (they can change, but don't change frequently. Most recent changes have been additions to the list).
Note: these are only available to DVC members, not renters. You must have either a DVC member card, or room key card that says 'Member' on it.

From the current (January-March 2006) 'Portable Perks' booklet:
Tony's Town Square - 10% lunch
Les Chef de France, Nine Dragons, Restaurant Marrakesh - 20% lunch
San Angel Inn - 10% lunch
Mama Melrose - 10% lunch

Yachtsman Steakhouse - 10% dinner

Capn Jacks - 10% lunch
Ghiradelli'e - 10%
Fulton's Crab House - 10% lunch & dinner
House of Blues - 10% lunch & dinner, 20% Sunday Gospel Brunch
McDonald's DTD - 20% on extra value meal. buy 1 get 1 free breakfast sandwich
Planet Hollywood - 10% lunch & dinner
Portobello Yacht Club - 10% lunch & dinner
Raglan Road - 10% lunch & dinner
Rainforest DTD - 10% lunch
Wolfgang Puck - 10% lunch & dinner
Wolfgang Puck Express - 10% lunch & dinner
All Star Cafe - 10% lunch & dinner

The DVC Website no longer lists Artist Point.

Also, there are some time restrictions as well. For example, at Cape May Cafe, the 10% discount applies for (5:30 - 6:30, 9:00 - 9:30 p.m. only), and similarly for Citricos as well.

Yachtsman Steakhouse too.

The room key will say member on it. It may or may not work for the dining discounts. Some CMs will ask for the blue DVC member card, which a renter or guest won't have.

The most extensive restaurant discounts are through the DDE. But you need an AP. Some people have discovered that the AP/DDE is a good deal and will pay for itself.
