DVC ressie with no tickets

I don't know who else has access to this but it looks like you can still purchase Annual Passes via TicketsatWork. I don't know what membership got me linked to them, but I have bought my tickets at a discount in the past through them. They are only selling APs which I'm not going to get for this trip, but maybe someone will have some luck through there!

Also, I have been checking the reservation system and nothing appears to be filling up other than the most recent weeks. Maybe they are waiting to see if they will have additional capacity later in the year?

All of this is crazy. We're probably (I'm hoping) over-reacting and I would hope DVC is going to look out for us. In the end, wouldn't they have to do something to accommodate my points if I have an October 2020 stay and can't even get into a park?

Ok guys so I just did a chat and I asked the CM about making another resort reservation and adding the tickets and making the park reservations with the intent of cancelling that resort reservation but keep the tickets and park reservations. He said that won't work and that if you cancel the resort it cancels the tickets. He said we could make a new reservation package and cancel the old DVC reservation but that won't work for us. We are renting points and can't back out. He said they were told by DVC that members would not be allowed to add until the 28th. He said we can contact DVC member services if we have any other questions. Has anyone talked to them? Does anyone know how to get in touch with them? I'd like to talk to them and let them know what I think about this.

Yes, if you cancel the package before buying new tickets on their own and linking them, you lose the original tickets.

This was only for people who didn’t want to wait the 4 days to get parks booked.

I have not read every post here so this may have been discussed. We have DVC reservations for May 2021. We do not have tickets and actually planned on waiting til 90 days prior to our trip to buy them from Undercover so we would be within their refund policy. Having no idea what will be going on next May I am reluctant to tie up $1000.00. Undercover was generous in their refund policies but that may not be the case in the future. Are we really going to have to be making park reservations right now for May 2021??What will "normal" look like by then....I guess none of knows anything for sure. Should I just bite the bullet and buy the tickets and make our reservations?? We do not buy AP's...

That is a tough question and honestly, IMO,I do not think anyone needs to buy now.

However, I am not sure that waiting until 90 will work either because that is what got some DVC owners this year...waiting like always caught them without tickets when Disney shut down sales abruptly.

I guess where I am getting lost is if you buy new tickets in 4 days you will have to get the park reservations based on them right? I just got the impression from the CM that you don't get to keep the tickets you bought with the package if you cancel it and would therefore lose the park reservations you made with them today. If you cancel how does it get decided which tickets are cancelled?

I know that when I made reservations the other day 3 of us had multiple tickets attached to our names and I didn’t have to choose which ticket to use.

I then transferred two to friend so now my DD and myself only have one ticket...we did not lose our park resercations.

So, I really don’t think anyone would lose them. I certainly didn’t. And the tickets I transferred to my friend were used to book for her family once attached to her account.

For the package, it would cancel out the ones attached to it. but if you have a second set, those would stay attached.

Again, it was a suggestion that if a DVC owner was really concerned that in these 4 days that they couldn’t get tickets...which was wrong on Disneys part....there was a work around.

It was very wrong. I just wish I was brave enough to try this.

The good news is nothing is selling out for 2021, and in 3 days, when they open ticket sales to all...well, that is what they said..I think you will be fine!

But, this really was not the right move on Disney’s part...granted, it is only 4 days...but it does not give DVC owners the warm and fuzzies.

Just an update: I was unable to link my renewal certificate myself but I was lucky enough to get thru to Member Services again (a 65 minute wait) and they were able to solve the problem and link my pass for me in 2 minutes!
I was then able to finish making my park reservations!
All that is left now is securing tickets for my BIL, SIL and neice for our joint Thanksgiving trip!

We have a reservation for 5 nights in mid July 2020 at Poly. I made the reservation as soon as DVC was accepting new reservations but before park reopening was announced. As luck/unluck would have it, we will be there amidst the opening of the parks but with no way it seems to get a ticket, even though the reservation availability still has some available for the days we are there. I'm just posting to commiserate. I suppose we can go over to Universal for a day. *sigh*

I’m a new DVC member (bought Riviera in December - haven’t even had our first “welcome home” stay) and this was my worst fear when we purchased: that if I’m DVC I wouldn’t be as “important” as cash guests. I cannot believe new packages are being booked for 2021. I can’t even fathom the thought process. Just makes me sad.

Thanks as always everyone for sharing all the information you have found out! I’ve been trying to call all AM. Think I’m giving up now for the day based on what people are saying...
I'm so sorry you feel this way. :sad1:This is the first time since I became a member in 2011 that I'm feeling the exact same way you are. This isn't the norm from my experience. I've always LOVED being a DVC member. Hopefully, next year things will be better.:flower:

I wonder if we all passed around the same ticket, how many reservations could we collectively hold.

I'm in a similar situation as you are (rented DVC points for January 2021) and I'm waiting until October to buy tix, while keeping an eye on things in the meantime to make sure availability remains good for park ressies for my dates.

We are waiting as well. Have a five night stay in Boardwalk in mid-August but have not purchased any tickets yet. If we aren't able to get tickets to Disney, we will plan on buying an AP for Universal and going there instead (still staying at Boardwalk).

Has this been confirmed by Disney? I was really hoping that DVC members with a reservation would get a crack at buying tickets in one of the early stages; some of the earlier communication seemed to indicate that's how this would work. If we (DVC reservation but no tickets) get thrown in the same bucket as "everyone else," we're much more likely to end up with a DVC stay but no ability to go into the parks. That doesn't make sense...
fyi, I have a dvc reservation at the Beach Club, July 19th thru the 26th. Can not purchase park tickets. The main pool is closed. The main restaurant is closed. DVC member services just informed me that you also can only make dinning reservations at a resort restaurant if your are a quest of the resort. DVC member services also confirmed that you can have tickets added to a vacation package for non-DVC reservations. So, DVC members are welcome to visit the resorts but are treated as second class quests not worthy of purchasing tickets for the parks. What is that all about? So much for them limiting ticket sales for outstanding tickets and annual pass holders in attempt to limit park capacity. Seems like it is all about taking care of their bottom line. A real insult to all of us considering that they continued to collect DVC member fees during the shut down.

Sounds like you got a bad CM. They are not as well informed as we would like them to be.

If it helps ease the pain at all, people who have non-DVC reservations in 2020 but no tickets cannot have them added. Starting Sunday, tickets can be added to rooms (including DVC) for 2021, but EVERYONE who didn't get tickets for 2020 yet is in the same boat.

Also, you can absolutely make reservations to dine at other resorts (one of the mods has done so already for her stay in July, staying at Contemporary but made a reservation at Beaches & cream if i recall correctly). Guests will not be allowed to just VISIT resorts/resort hop, without a dining reservation. I think they only have reservations open to book up to July 10 right now but additional dates should open up soon.

Yeah I'm pretty ticked about the whole thing. I was told by a couple CM's yesterday about how we could make new reservations in order to buy tickets and then cancel the DVC reservations. That of course would have meant more money out of my pocket for the new reservations. It tells me that the whole reason for them doing this is strictly to get more money from me. They are already getting a lot anyway.

Thanks for the updated info. It still doesn't sit well with me nor should it with any DVC member. If there are park tickets available for new non-DVC reservations then there are available tickets and those tickets should be equally available to members with confirmed reservations.

There are not for 2020, including new cash room reservations. Disney has stopped those too. Only DVC members can currently book rooms on property.

But 2021 Cash packages can get them. According to the DVC website, they have held back park spots for those who need stand alone tickets for 2021 when they go on sale the 28th of June

Nothing has been announced for anyone for 2020...however, the parks are not filling up...except for a few days during the first week..so it would not be surprising to see 2020 tickets go on sale sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, before your July trip!

That;s exactly what I just said. Starting 6/28, ANY person with existing 2021 reservations can purchase tickets for 2021. DVC or not.

NOBODY (DVC, non-DVC) can purchase tickets for 2020 right now.
