DVC Resort Questions - I'm a Newbie

We recently purchased the DVC on our past trip in September. May will be about first time staying at a DVC resort. We are staying at Saratoga Springs and the Animal Kingdom Villas. What is the Community Hall at the DVC resorts? Where do you rent movies from? What kind of movies do they have available?

When we stay at SSR we will have a one bedroom, but our stay at the AKV will be in a studio. Is there somewhere I will be able to do some laundry? Our DS is 2 irate: and I know I will need to wash some of his clothes. How much does it cost to do the wash? We stayed at Pop in September, is the same at all Disney resorts?

Also, can you do in room dining in the villas?

the community hall is where all of the kids activities takes place. Its a great amenity for those with younger kids.

At SSr the movie rental was at Artist Pallet, but it may have moved to the community hall. DVD's are free for DVC members.

All one bedroom units have thier own washing and dryers, studios do not. At SSR there are washers and dryers located at the four pools, for use by members. They are also free to use for members.

I am not sure about the in room dining question. Do you want to eat in your room or are you looking for room service?

Room service is available at the DVC resorts that are associated with a hotel. So that's AKV, VWL, BCV, BWV, and, I assume, BLT. The free-standing DVC resorts, OKW and SSR, do not offer room service.

You can call an outside delivery (Giordano's Pizza is one of the best Chicago deep-dish anywhere) to your room at SSR.

AKV has a laundry room near the foyer on the 5th floor of Jambo. DVC laundry rooms are free to DVC members! (I've heard some of the laundry rooms are newer high efficiency (needing HE detergent) but I'm not sure about AKV)

Both resorts have room service, but it is a bit expensive.
