Has Disney ever said anything about building any other DVC resorts outside of WDW? I know Vero Beach and HHI didn't sell as quickly as the WDW resorts did, but they did sell. Personally, I'd love to see DVD resorts in Southern California (on the beach but fairly close to Disneyland) and Cape Cod.

I haven't heard anything to suggest it but agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly. I feel there are more than enough options onsite and would love to see California, Cape Cod, Montauk, Virginia Beach (can you tell I'm a beach person) to name a few.

I don't know.

DVC a few years ago announced that there would be one in California. but then suddenly they sold that land to the Marriott. Who put up a timeshare there.

same thing in France - again Marriott put up there.

So I don't know.

DVD did own some property in Newport Beach, but sold it to Marriott. I believe it is now the Marriott Vacation Club's Newport Coast Villas.

there have been reports of guides being sent out to California, and some people have reported seeing DVC carts at DL, but there has been nothing official.

At the DVC member meeting that we attended in June, the DVC rep who gave a presentation did say that 50% of DVC staff did go out to CA to sell memberships and are still there. That being said, moving staff to new locations does not constitute new properties being built, just sales of membership. But I thought that he mentioned CA possibly getting a DVC property when we talked to him later. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Well, it could be that "nothing official" has been announced regarding a California DVC location, however DVC is officially in California and registering in more and more states (heard from the DVC guide they are now registered in Oregon {perhaps? :confused3 } Washington state).

I was at DLR on July 9 and I saw DVC carts in MK on Main Street near the entrance to Frontierland; DTD near World of Disney; and at the DLH. (BTW -- they are quite happy to give out the "Best Kept Secret" pins at the MK cart) There is an "open house" suite somewhere {didn't get the lowdown on exactly where :confused3 } and a model suite (presumably SSR) is to be built on site. They are loading guests into DVC vans from the MK (and presumably DCA) and taking them over to the "open house" and selling DVC there.

As for a DVC California :sunny: location, definitely not as a part of the Grand Californian -- not enough space there according to the DVC guide David C. He suggested that there would be enough room to build approximately 8 villas. He admitted the Strawberry Fields were a good potential location and suggested another location nearby the Strawberry Fields currently used for CM parking.
