DVC Resort Early Check-In?

I have been to OKW in 2007. We checked in mid afternoon or so with no problem. We are planning to go again in October 2010. Would it be possible to check in a DVC Resort(any) sometime in the am. I figured it is ok, but did not know if their was a certain time you had to wait until you can check in. Thanks in advanced.

You can check in early in the morning. The computers are generally reset by 7 am. But, your room may or may not be ready then. You can check your baggage with Bell Services, and call back periodically. Check in time is after 4 pm, so be prepared to not be in a room until that time.

Yes you might get lucky and get a room that is ready in the morning. People have reported getting into their room at 9am. On the other hand, people have waited until 6pm for a room. I once had to wait until 8PM! Most of the time my room has been ready somewhere between 1pm and 4pm.

Yes that is right. However, unlike a hotel, the villas with their full kitchens and multiple bathrooms require more time to do a full cleaning after they are vacated. With the DVC resorts running close to 100% occupancy, that means you rarely find one unoccupied the night before, and usually will wait until 4 pm or later. Not to say always, some folks report they are in sometime in the afternoon. But it has become more the norm in the past couple of years for check ins to be later than not.

That being said, you can certainly enjoy the parks and the hotel amenities while you are waiting for your villa. Just check the bags and head to the parks or the pool!

I've checked in before 6 am several times. From what I've learned in the past, the computers are usually reset by 4:30 AM and almost always by 5:30 AM. One way to check in that early is to start your reservation the night before, letting DVC know you'll be arriving late (early AM). Also, if doing the DDP, you can access the credits on the plan from the point you check in with the front desk whether or not your room is ready.
