DVC resort availability Wine & Dine race weekend?

Hi all,
We are in the process of purchasing DVC - just waiting on closing to be finalized so we do not have access to the DVC website etc yet. Thinking about when we will plan on taking our first DVC trip and I am considering signing up for the Wine & Dine 10K/Half challenge but I'm not sure if I'll even be able to book a DVC resort at this point as I know it's a busy time of year for DVC bookings.

Can anyone tell me if at this point there are any studios left to be booked for that weekend(first weekend in November 11/3-11/5)? If there isn't much availability then I wont bother signing up for the races this year and just wait until the next year.

DISboards do not allow posting of information concerning availability at the resorts.
We would not be able to tell you how many rooms are available, as even members can not "see" that information.

I know one can not see the total amount of rooms available..just looking to see if any room was available. I found the answer but thanks for the insight didn't know that wasn't allowed - have seen posts regarding resorts sold out etc before

What I can tell you, based on prior years, is that weekend, Thurs through Sat, is THE highest DVC demand weekend of the year at WDW. By 7 months out for 2016, even SSR studios were gone for two of the weekend nights, one of the only two times of year those have disappeared before 7 months out (the other is NYE time). At 7 months out you might find 1BRs or 2BRs open somewhere such as at SSR, OKW or Kidani, but even that is not certain and if seeking a studio anywhere, you will likely face being limited to wait listing. Note, if you can close and get into the system before 7 months out, you may able to find that SSR studio open.

yes, will plan on waiting until I can get into the system before I register for the races just to be sure I can actually get a room! And if not, I will be able to plan better for the next Wine & Dine weekend!

You may be able to piece together a split stay with a studio / 1-bedroom combo or something.

The additional problem you face is that delaying beyond the opening of registration for the races could result in not being able to register for any race. As has been reported for that weekend in 2016, the AP/DVC early registration for all races filled within 90 minutes after opening on March 22, 2016, and general registration for all races filled within 3 hours after opening on March 29.

W&D has been on sale to the public since mid January and the challenge isn't sold out.

To me the "danger" is that next year it might be gone. Or changed again. So you might wait for nothing. If you want to do this run, book something with cash and just deal with not using your points for this trip.

I was only looking at doing the races because we will have the DVC to use - just playing with ideas on when we can book a trip or 2 once the closing is complete... Not a big deal if we can't get to the Wine & Dine this year though
