I have a DVC reservation for January. In the past the DDP has not worked out for us, but I have been re-thinking it with the addition of alcohol. We usually have a beer with lunch and wine with dinner. My daughter is in college and on her own schedule now. Last year she joined us for a few days but not the whole week and I expect her to do the same this year since she'll want to spend time with friends. She is not currently on our reservation and we will be renting a car so she won't need DME. We will not be over the limit on the room.

Would I be able to book the DDP for my husband and me but add her to the reservation when she arrives? If I add her to the reservation in advance and pay for meals she won't be around to eat any savings I might have goes right out the window. We would just pay OOP for her meals.

Would that work? If not, we'll just stick with paying OOP for all of us and taking advantage of DVC/AP/Visa card discounts.

It might be worth a try to do it. There have been a FEW reports that this was not allowed and it did seem to be tied to those on the dining plan, BUT I don't think any of them were DVC. Maybe do another post on the DVC forum to see if there have been some recent experiences with adding someone once you're there. You have up to 48 hrs before check in the add the dining plan, so you have some time to check it out.

Thanks! I'll check over there too.

if you're not worried about having EMH access, you could just leave her off the reservation completely and add her as a day guest so that she can get a key access to the room.

I have added my DS and DDIL to our reservation wehn they arrived, but this was resort reservations and not DVC. I don't know if there is a difference. I had called to ask how to manage this because I did not know when they could join us and I knew they were only staying a few days. I was told they could be added when they came, and that they would need to purchase tix separately, and would nto be added to the dining plan. Things may have changed since then, though
