Does anyone know if resale point members are eligible for the opening day ABD price discount? Am considering becoming a member and this would make a difference. TIA.

Points purchase resale after 3/21/2011 can't be used for ABD.

Ok, so I can't pay for trips using the points if they are resale, but does that also exclude the opening day price guarantee too?

You would need to book direct with ABD or through a TA if you only have resale points purchased after 3/21/2011. If there are any special offers that are made available direct from ABD or by using a TA is what you would be eligible for.

*Effective March 21, 2011, Members who do not purchase their ownership interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those Vacation Points for the Disney or Concierge Collections.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I suspect it will be similar to the fact that resale DVC owners who purchased after the cutoff have been blocked from booking the DVC member cruise in the past, even if they wanted to book with cash instead of points.

Prices for ABD tours increase as more people book the tour and the spaces available decrease. DVC members are charged the lowest, "opening day" price, no matter when they book. The OP is asking if someone who has only ever bought resale points, is still considered a DVC member for the purpose of this discount.

Does anyone know the answer to that question? Pointing out that resale points can't be used to book an ABD does not answer the question.

While I don't know the answer for certain, my thought would be, if all you had do to receive the member pricing was to provide a DVC member number upon booking direct with ABD, I don't know that ABD would know if you bought resale or not. :confused3

I am guessing that it would be considered a member perk the same way the AP discounts are???

Keep in mind that, even if you get a definitive answer on the subject today, DVD reserves the right to eliminate any perks at their discretion so what might be true today could be gone with the wind tomorrow. Don't make your purchase decision based n perks.
